2004 NHL draft...

Recommended Posts

I thought it was along the lines of Euro's having a different set of rules. I believe Karel Pilar was around that age when he was drafted as well.

Stephane Quintal was traded from the Montreal Canadiens to the Los Angeles Kings for future considerations. He knew he was heading out of Montreal with Komisarek having a good season last year and the Habs making more room for the young stars they drafted in the last 3-4 years.

ever since the rumors of Hasek going into Ottawa...I knew this would happen. My favourite team are the Senators, but I don't think that Hasek will be able to do what Lalime didn't. My hope rests on Prusek and Emery.

Muckler's gone insane. He gave away Lalime and Bonk for peanuts.

Someone should try to close in on Havlat (I think he has a rift w/ Muckler). Probably let him go for cashews.

Yeah I think Muckler's lost it. He lost his starting goaltender and his first line center for what, a third and a fourth round draft pick? Insane.

I agree he should have kept them but he did clear some salary to keep the core of the team in place and retain guys like DeVries. Without Martin, they could be expecting Spezza to be the number one guy next year.

I like how he was able to get something for Bonk because he was obviously willing to let him go for nothing anyways. I would've liked (if I was an Ottawa fan) maybe package something so they could've tried to get Garon a solid back-up who may be able to take the ball and run with it if Hasek falters, which I think is a very possible situation. I would've kept Lalime (if it meant re-signing him) and tried to send him out when someone was in need of a Goalie. Like Toronto and Montreal did with Potvin and Hackett.

Ottawa has Prusek and Emery already in net behind Hasek, I can't see them spending the money on Garon.

I was thinking of them getting rid of one or both. I was under the impression they were unimpressed with Pruseks progress and Emry was going to take his job this year anyways, which in my mind is a risk. I just thought they may have been better off unloading Prusek/Emry and Bonk for Garon and a pick, because Hasek is so frequently injured and I wouldn' be comfortable with either of those as a starter, yet Garon I would.

There was some talk of Emery being the starter this coming year. Bringing in Hasek is a move to give the team no excuses for not winning this year. Bringing in Garon would have had a veteran team with high expectations and a young goalie, not the best combination. This may be a situation like in Philly where Hasek comes in but Emery outplays him over the course of the year.

Damn, Martin St Louis is coming up here to Mt. Kisco (10 mins away) to skate with him a bit during the summer. The plane tickets are in the mail, Kosy.

I simply cannot wait.

The Stars picked Mark Fistric a defenseman in the first round. Has any one heard of him or know if he is any good? You can see more about him on www.dallasstars.com.

Maybe they got some one good that they will pick this year. The Stars should have kept Iginla, because both the players the Stars traded him for are now on different teams. The last good pick they made was Morrow.

Dallas and Calagry both did well in that trade. Dallas got a cup out of it, I doubt they would take it back now.

Carolina signed Jeff O'Neill to a one year contract for $3.7 mil. I wonder if they did this so they could package him and Weekes, and send them possibly to Toronto. If I recall, he got really pissy with the management towards the trade deadline this year and said he didn't want to play in Carolina anymore.

Also, Robitallie signed a one year deal with the Kings for $1.5 mil.

I don't see a huge market for a 36 year old, making $4.5 mil who couldn't find the back of the net last year. When he was traded last year, there was some mention of a possible Sanderson type deal where the Caps would reaquire him off waivers, but they'd be crazy to pay him that much.
