NorthStar 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2007 Sounds like phishing. I would ignore it.
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted February 4, 2007 ignore it. If you're really worried about it go to your paypal(don't click on the link) and make sure everything is current and correct.
DamnLocust 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2007 I've gotten these emails before. forward them to spoof@paypal.com so they can shut down the phishers before they catch anyone else. The link they send in the email is not to the paypal website, but it will look exactly like it.
mac23 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2007 I've gotten a few of them. One way to tell: check the url. If the link says https://www.paypal.com/etc...., it's the real deal, if it just says http, it's a fake. The 's' means it's secure. The same isn't true for all sites, but it is for Paypal.I haven't heard of spoof@paypal.com, but I'll try it out.
Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted February 4, 2007 I wouldn't suggest that as a litmus test, because anyone who's good enough to pull off a fake email that looks indentical to the real thing could probably create a secure site. The safest way to verify the email is to log directly onto the site in question. Either you will see a mesage of some sort or you can contact them from the site. Hackers could pull it off. I'm just saying that if it doesn't have the s, it's a safe bet that it's fake.If in doubt, check the real site.If you have the option, flag it as spam.
