RBK 8K or NBH 8500 Helmet

Recommended Posts

i tried on the 8k, it just didnt fit right.

i own 2 8000's and they are great and all, but a bit bulky.

i bought an intake on ebay and couldnt be happier. it fits great.

you should just try em before you buy em to find the best one!

I tried two different sizes of the 8k, didn't like either.

Stuck with my 5000 for a while longer

Now I'm looking to try either an 8500 or an Intake,

But before I make my decision I want to see this new Easton helmet that is supposed to debut this month.

Keep that in mind if you want more options.

LOL, yeah the vector is ugly. Buy what fits your head. Is the 8K worth the money over the 6K?

I had an 8k and then a 6k and I really don't think the 8k is worth the extra cash. The swivel dial at the back of the helmet was useless and the 6k is almost identical apart from that and the fact that it doesnt have a seperate innner shell. Well worth the $60 saving

both my son and i both have 3 of the 8000/8500 helmets and absolutely love them. one example of their protection was when my son was tripped up on a breakaway and slid head first into the boards, by the time i jumped the boards to help him he was on his feet skating like a mad man after the guy who tripped him up. also from what i've seen in the nhl and ahl alot of guys who have previously had problems with concussions seem to prefer the nbh line of helmets.

In Vegas we talked to a guy who used to work for NBH who had some rather unkind works for the 8000/8500. Then again he does work for another company now.

Did this guy say it was a bad performance helmet or was he commenting on the look of the helmet?

He backed up the things I say about EPP foam in helmets.

well the foamy padding strips in the 6k are IMO even nicer than the 8k. The helmet is just as light as well. One thing with both of them though i find is a little bit annoying, is that they look huge on my head. The medium is too small and the large seems to fit fine...just looks massive. I did originally want the 8000 but ended up with the 8k

The 6K seems to have a grippier foam? I tried it on and it literally pulls at my hair.. The 8K wasn't so bad and the 8000 was a bit bulky.. in the end i went with the 5000

I tried the 8K for a while. Had the hair pulling out thing happening and the helmet seemed a bit flimsy for my liking. That is not to say if ever failed me for protection however I went back to a Nike/Bauer 8500 helmet. It feels much better on my head for fit and it is a solid feeling helmet. This is just a personal preference thing with me and I really can't see too much wrong with the 8K. Both are good helmets but the 8K is definitely lighter but it's way too overpriced. Then again so is the 8000/8500 helmet.

What's retail price when you bought 8500 helmet? Where can get the 8500 combo with cage around 115usd?
