How much do you pay to play hockey?

Recommended Posts

For high school hockey here it's $120. 21 games plus the state tournament, transportation (bus, ferry for a few games), and an hour of practice ice every day from the end of November to mid-March.

jesus now thats a hell of a deal.

It is a pretty good deal; espicially for a public high school that is going through some serious budget problems. We are pretty lucky to get a lot of support from some notable alumni and we have a great booster club. We get so much more than a lot of other teams around here, and it's not so bad to be spoiled :P .

$5300/team

27 game season (including 2 guaranteed playoff games)

Burnaby, with very shitty ice times (10:45 or 11:15 PM start)

/edit Oh yeah, 3 preseason games too

This year cost about $4000, next years gonna be around $8000

That is the most expensive hockey I have ever heard of. Where and who do you play for?

In Toronto in the GTHL. For the York Toros, Minor Midget A and Midget AA.. And next year for the North York Rangers Midget AAA.

8k, GTHL sure went up. A to AAA is quite a jump at the midget age! Good luck on making a OPJHL team after midget.

I think my dad paid 4-5k almost 10 years ago in the MTHL for me.

I play 3 different types of hockey and they are all different.

I play once a week in a pick up game where you throw your stick in the middle and it costs $6/hr.

I play with a Rec Team that has been around for 30 years, and used to be a mens team, they have numerous members and we all pay $150 a year for a couple of games a week (October-April). We also go out of town but the team pays mileage as it has lots of cash in the bank cause it it an established team. Only rec team I am aware of that does this.

I also play in a senior mens league but they pay me to play in that league. Around $100 a game.

This is in Sunny Saskatchewan.

$265 for 18 games plus playoff

$100 for MLRH

$69 for 12 games at the local outdoor rink which usually goes about 3-4 months per season thanks to the weather

Wow you guys get off easy.. It costs my parents $3500 for me to play AAA in Mass. This includes 36 games, 3 practices a week, and a skills session every monday. Kinda a rip off

hearing prices under a thousand would be amazing for me. in fort collins, colorado we're paying 1400 straight up plus a dryland program once a week 250 plus tournament fee 150. with other minor expemses and what not it's close to $2000 for 16 regular season games, 15-25 tourney games, and playoffs. 2-4 practices a week. i've been paying this the past two seaosns and next year i'm going back to recreational league with minor traveling. under $500 with 20 regular season games and one practice a week. plus a couple local tourneys.

For my mens league teams it's around 5K per team for 18 games and guaranteed 1 playoff game. Comes out to around 350-400/person depending on the team.

Pickup skates are anywhere from 10-20 dollars, usually depends on the level of skate.

It's expensive here in Connecticut.

$10 Drop-in

$7 Skate

$15 Per training

$10 Per home game

$40 Per away game

$170 Insurance (Full season)

Don't know how that works out but our rink is pretty much trying to price hockey out of the arena so they can focus more on figure skating and public sessions so we're expecting a 60-70% increase in costs for ice time.

The league I am in now is $185 for 18 games? I'm not sure on the game amount. Its much cheaper than the $435 I paid in DC. Funny thing is guys still complain about the cost.

The local mens league here is ahahockey.com and its about $500 for the winter season. 20 games or so. Our team set up our own practices and that was another $200 for 15 of them or so per person.
