hurricaneoasis 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 I've been using the P-106 Jokinen pattern on my XXX-lite, but I've seen some XXX pro returns that have the darby pattern, from the pictures they look similar can anyone help me out that has used one? Are they a relatively similar blade?

Chadd 916 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 Darby is more mild and less loft, more of a mid from what I recall.
mm705 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 darby/p27tps is a much more mild curve than the jokinen, more mid as well.
Jarick 5 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 Can any Jokinen users comment as to the availability of this curve? I'd like to find a wood blade but there's nothing online. I'll see what my LHS's have in stock but looks like it might be a tough find.
hurricaneoasis 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 is the Darby more like a Drury?
Chadd 916 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 is the Darby more like a Drury?no, it's not really like any retail curve.
mm705 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 i guess if you wanted to you could think of it as a mix between a sakic and a modano kinda, but its not too close to either one. its curve is a little closer to where a sakic curves, but has more or less the loft of a modano comparatively, but it does have a little bit more its not as neutral as the modano, and is also a little bit longer i think, tho i havent held them up to each other to compare...its a great curve bar none, backhands, wristshots, slapshots, stickhandling, its as versatile as they come, its only real flaw being that its not offered in retail except older inno blades in "mogilny" or (and i havent seen any of these really, just heard something about this around) warrior blades in "weight" even tho the lie on the weight is a little different...sorry for being so long winded
43%burnt 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 i vaguely remember someone on the board saying the darby was similar to a kariya pro curve. from what i've seen its pretty close, but i haven't seen one in person to say for sure. i'll post pics of the kariya curve if someone seconds the comparison to the darby. mack 44 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 Not too similar in the ones I've seen. Similar blade length but the Darby (to me) looks like a Modano with some shovel put on it.
Doctor Hook 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 Is this Darby we speak of Craig Darby?

Doctor Hook 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 Makes sense, since Craig is a journeyman AHLer/some NHL and is now in Europe. He's from my hometown so I always kept up with his career.
mack 44 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 It's Craig Darby from what I've heard. His pattern just became popular enough to become a stock pro pattern.

mack 44 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 I think the person whose pattern it is played for Montreal. I want to say it's Craig Darby but I'm not sure and hockeydb is somehow on the blacklist here at work.Edit: Nevermind, I remember someone saying it was like Jim Darby, a guy who was a minor league baseball player of all things. Jarick 5 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 Just picked up a Bauer 6000 Jokinen last night, seems to be a lot more like a Drury than the composite Jokinens I was looking at (more loft, slight curve instead of moderate). I'll snap a picture tonight before game time.Really sweet little curve. I've been playing with Modano clones for a long time now. The Jokinen puts a lot more spin on the puck so it just flies off the blade a lot faster and straighter. Stickhandling is different, but not better or worse. Have to see how it works in a game. Have to see how it works in a game. The Jokinen is a great curve, especially if you a guy that likes heel curves. I used it for a long time, but I've moved up to a higher level league, and playing wing I don't have the time to load up my wrist shot like I usually do with a heel curve, I am switching to a Sakic curve so I can get it up and off the stick quick from in front.
