rex grossman is the worst

Recommended Posts

is it just me or could rex grossman seriously be the worst qb to start in a superbowl recently, if not ever. i think he may even be in the running for worst current starting qb. anyone else think orton should have played later in the game?

Griese should have played.

What I wanna know is how the hell did Indy develop a run defense during the playoffs??

The return of Bob Sanders was really important. I think they also changed some things within their pass rush. At times they were over pursueing and getting beat on draw plays.

Yep, Bob Sanders is the key to that defense. Also getting Freeney to not play like his ass is on fire helped.

While Dilfer didn't win games for Baltimore, he did for Tampa in the years before coming to Baltimore. He led Tampa to the playoffs in '97 (or '98, I can't remember) after putting up good numbers that year.

He also went to the Pro Bowl. You can't be too bad and go to the Pro Bowl, even if only once.

Although I like Dilfer, Shawn King also looked good for the Bucs with Dungy/Kiffin's defense helping him.

The only thing I'd add to Dilfer's draft comment is an asterisk because Shuler was the first QB taken that year.

Ravens-era Dilfer didn't win games for Baltimore but he didn't lose them. Grossman has to make the realisation that he can't win games for Chicago; he just has to not lose them. He's still thinking he'll be a reason why they win anything.

I think the problem with Grossman is he started the season strong with some long balls down the field. When his game started to go south his only reaction to fix it was to heave it up and hope for the magic to return.

I think the telling stat I saw on him was how he played Jekyll and Hyde all year - several plus 100 rating games and several below 50 games. If they don't get someone in there to teach him how to manage a game and dig himself out of a hole his career is all downhill from here.
