  1. Nice looking boat. I've got a Four Winns H210 that's prepped and ready for the summer. The forecast is showing mid 80's Thursday and Friday in the area, looking like a trip will happen before I haul it up to the lake this weekend for the summer. Been a bit since it took it out around here, thinking about cruising the Detroit river, depends on the weather and who goes with me. I've got a feeling there will be no shortage of people coming down with something later this week and not being able to make it to work.
  2. Crazy last few days, impromptu trip to Indianapolis for the final 4 on Saturday, annual Detroit Tiger Baseball Opening Day craziness Monday, followed by Wings/ Canes last night in the upstairs club seats at the Joe. Can't rebound like I could when I was in my early 20's and I'm paying for it all today but it was worth it. There will be some serious sauna time at the gym today after I finish my physical therapy.
  3. The annual Vegas March Madness trip was as usual an interesting time, was great to get out in some warm weather. Crazy 4 days with the guys, made some money, met some interesting people (as we seem to do every trip) and I wasn't hampered too bad with my walking boot. I could use a day or two to recuperate though, was running on fumes and the red eye back last night did me in but we're already looking forward to next year.
  4. Booked my annual trip to Vegas for the 1st weekend of the NCAA basketball tournament, been the last 5 or so years with the same group of guys. Wasn't sure I was going to be able to make it this year because of my broken ankle/leg. Cost me a little more because I booked things later than usual but the doctors said I'll be in a walking boot by then and I've had enough of the cold this winter.
  5. I have an employee that says "gunna" instead of going to. I explained to her that if she continues to do so she's not "gunna" have a job anymore. I think that got the message across.
  6. Fractured my right ankle and broke a bone in my leg. Freak accident going down the stairs at my house, have surgery scheduled for Thursday. No hockey, driving, etc for 6 weeks or more. Not being able to drive is the worst (outside of no hockey), thankfully my brother and business partner have both been kind enough to be my chauffeurs for a bit. So at least work and business shouldn't be affected too much, and I'm finally getting my money's worth out of my crazy insurance premiums (As you can see I'm doing my best to put a positive spin on this situation).
  7. Be confident and make your own breaks. Since this is a hockey focused place here is an analogy. Good teams make their own "luck" while the teams at the bottom complain about bad "puck luck" or how they never get the "bounces".You seem young and you'll be fine, nothing a good house party can't set straight. Here is some advice I received years ago in relation to women from a very successful self made happily married man, it is kinda blunt so beware and use at your own risk. 1. Variety is the spice of life (until you are committed). 2. Use her mother as a comparison for her future looks. 2. No kids out of wedlock. 3. Get a prenup. 4. Keep yourself in decent shape. 5 Save as much money as you can/ start investing while you are young. 6. Wear your seatbelt (not exactly related to relationships but good enough advice to include as he really stressed it) Good Luck
  8. Tough is an understatement, I cannot imagine how difficult things are in California. Managing our businesses in Detroit and the surrounding areas are more than enough for me.
  9. Or someone hit the sauce a little early on a Friday afternoon.
  10. Rough week on the HordieGowe fleet. My beater 1999 F150 truck finally had the transmission go, nothing unexpected and was a good run with that truck. Was great for hauling stuff etc, seemed like I was always loaning it out to someone for something. Scrapped it and moved on. While on my way to work was involved in a hit and run. Lady ran a red light in her Ford Econoline conversion van, hit my car and fled the scene. She drove a bit then took off on foot into the snow. Cops got her soon after, turns out she had some warrants and was drunk. Found the last tidbit to be ironic considering the business I'm in and it was 1pm. Thankfully no one was hurt, outside of my few month old CTS. Talked to the dealer and it is a 50/50 chance the car may be done. So I'm now in the market for a new beater truck and maybe a car.
  11. Seeing the Compuware gloves a few posts ago brought back some memories. Dug these out of the basement from my travel days, ended up using them for a couple seasons. They are pretty beat up,the palms are shot, and smell terrible but they got the job done. Had a pair in Little Caesars colors but have no idea where they went. Used my matching bag until last season until it completely fell apart. (Sorry the photos are a little small)
  12. Selig decides to not overturn last nights call, but will look at expanding instant replay and will examine the umpiring system. This was the answer most people were expecting. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5248118
  13. The 83 Brett pine tar game was a different situation as it was a rule issue and the rule at the time only called for the "removal of the bat" from play for excessive grip substances, with no exact penalty for the player using the bat. Today the rule is clearer and does not allow for a player to be called out or be ejected for using excessive pine tar, just the removal of the bat. The only change that may come of this is expanded replay, but sadly thats about it.
  14. That would set a very dangerous precedent of the commissioner changing a judgement call ( safe or out, ball or strike) after the fact. It was a horrible call at the worst possible time (even the umpire admits that) but there is really nothing that can be done.
