clip of it on tsn. i've seen it a couple times from different angles and it more looks like newbury was out before his head hit the ice. he wasn't thrown down either, he fell and took petrovicky with him since he had a hold on him.

Thats what I concluded as well. I saw it live and then a half dozen replays and its obvious that Newbury was done after the first couple of punches. Petrovicky connected hard on his first few hits and after that Newbury wasn't even defending himself. Looks like he got a concussion at the very least. It was scary to watch live.

He was definitely not thrown down. He was KO by a punch then fell and hit his head.

Punch knocked him out. I hope he bounces back. Fight doesn't reflect his character and ability. 6'0, 195ish but he's a tough Brampton boy. Had some good tussles in the AHL. FYI he's 24, has a little boy.

It's just one of those fights, Petrovicky got in a good punch (normally not the greatest fighter) and Newbury had the misfortune when he's more able. His head hit the ice, there was blood from his ears.

my bad. I guess I didn't see it correctly, then. :( Now that I have watched it a couple more times, I see that he was KO'd well before he hit the ice. But.. hitting his head on the ice did not help his cause.

Was at the game, pretty scary moment in the building. I really like Newburry and its a shame he has to fight in order to stay here, when it really isn't his game. He can throw him weight around and fight, but he isn't a heavyweight and likely shouldn't have fought 2 nights in a row, but the Pens have nobody to fight Belak.
