hockeyguy2925 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 i'm trying to find a place to buy ice hockey boots only to make a custom pair of roller hockey skates. i would like some bauer Vapors, but at this point, i'm not really picky. anyone know where to pick some up? MLSman 22 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 I have not been able to find any NBH boots....looking myself. A couple of months ago I saw some Vapor 10 (Bure/Afinaganov) boots, but they were in bad shape. For new ones, HockeyWorld has a pair of Easton Z-Air ('99 boot) for only $49.99.See:http://www.hockeyworld.com/prodHome.ihtml?...D=21&shop=1Hope this helps. GSHL99 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 The boot is the vast majority of the cost of an ice skate, as such when you need to replace the boot then cost wise it only makes sense to buy a new pair of skates. This is probably why you're not going to find many places that sell just the boots. If you're after roller hockey skates, why not just buy a pair from one of the ice hockey companies which are constructed by putting inline wheels on a hockey boot? hockeyguy2925 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 thanks for the hep MLSman. i'll look into those boots. as for GSHL, i already have a really good wheel and bearing set, as well as some roller chasis, so i rather just try to find some boots to complete the set. MLSman 22 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 I am the same way...just like the feel of an ice hockey boot...and would pop on an inline chassis. I have tried inline boots (Tour mostly), but always wind up going back to an ice boot.
OhMyGodImOnFire 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 I've been trying to find boots only too, saves the trouble of taking the blade off and putting on and inline chassis. Although, someone on MSH got a stolen one :D
Monty22 835 Report post Posted February 12, 2007 It will likely be easier to find a complete skate that you like and fits you. When you have the blade and holder removed for the inline holder you can see if your LHS will knock some money off the change over and take the holders and steel as a credit, or sell them on E-bay. trox_355 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2007 I've only recently seen NOS versions of Easton AIR boots on either Monkey or Giant a couple of months ago.I wound up getting a closeout pair of skates online and cutting the holder off when I was converting them to inlines a few months back.Does anybody with experience on this know if manufacturers even distribute boots only?EDIT: I don't type with a cockney accent. Shrek 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2007 Argh. Im looking for one sized 9EE :(I asked my lhs about this and they told me its somthing to do with warranty about skate companies have to sell a skate with holder only. If not they are considered seconds and most times nothing but problems.
