LS2 Holder with LS2Power Runner?

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this has been posted already, but I couldn't find a match in Search.

Has anyone actually tried putting LS2 Power steel on the normal Lightspeed2 holders (white)? Just curious since the clear runners on the One90 and One70s aren't labeled with 'POWER' on the holder - just that its a Lightspeed2. The only place 'Power' is listed is on the steel.

And for those who have tried BOTH the normal LS2 steel AND LS2 Power steel, have you noticied a difference?

GREAT question, one that I've been wondering about as well. I'm looking at a pair of NBH Supreme 70s as my next pair of skates since I'm told they're the modern incarnation of the Bauer 8090. I'd be using them mostly for officiating so I'd be interested in possibly changing the clear/blue holders out for white ones while keeping LS2 Power runners. The stock holders just don't look that great with an official's uniform and I'm big on appearance. I have a hard enough time being taken seriously without LOOKING like a goofball! ;)

you CANNOT use ls2 power steel on regular(white) ls2 holders and vice versa.

ls2 power runners are longer than regular ls2s.

Thanks, good to know. So it sounds like IF I buy Supreme 70s and want white LS2 holders, I'm changing out the whole blade. I'll have to weigh the pros and cons of doing so later on.

you can't? well then i guess the xxx's and the one90's we did at our store are just the exception...

How'd that happen?

THere are couple size combinations that fit. Not many, but a couple.

What sizes do fit? Maybe I'd be one of the lucky ones and only have to fork out for white holders. If the Supreme 70s fit like the 8090s did, I'd be buying a 7D.

I wouldn't recommend it. I tried putting larger LS2 steel into a 272mm LS2 power and it fit, but the fit was not perfect. I really like the LS2 powers myself. I used the LS2's before that and I like these better.

Question related to current topic...If I have my steel rockered to a 9, it really makes no difference if the runner is LS or LS Power, correct?!

The Power is still a longer blade.

That's what I thought, so continuing on that, then... and I guess this is more of a question for the LHS guys with experience with installing/comparing holders... my current holders are the first Lightspeed holders (call them LS1 if you want to) and are 280mm...

Question 1: If I swap these out for LS2 Power holders, I still want the 280 holder, correct?

&

Question 2: 280mm LS2 Power steel is still longer than LS1 280mm steel?

If yes to both then great because that's my only beef with my current skates - that the steel is too short - and I don't want to compromise the integrity of my boot by drilling new holes just to accomodate a 288 holder. If I can achieve the same result (of having a longer blade) by using 280mm LS2 Power holders and steel, then I'm all for it.

Appreciate any confirmation on the above.

Any easy way of getting an LS2P without the aesthetic problem of having to put up with purple holders?

I thought I saw some pros with LS2P's that were white.

You thought wrong.

Yes and yes.

Last question on this, and if an LHS guy could compare, I'd be grateful:

It's already been confirmed that a 280mm LS2 Power runner is longer than a standard 280mm LS2 runner, but how much shorter is a 280mm LS2 Power runner than a standard 288mm LS2 runner? I guess another way of asking this is how much longer is a 280mm LS2 power runner than a 280mm LS2 standard runner? A side by side pic would be awesome if available.

I only ask because my old skates were 288mm runners, and the new ones are 280mm (which I should have checked first). I definately do notice the difference and hate it because I have less blade in front of the toe that I'm used to and it completely changes the dynamic.

Again - I appreciate any confirmed assistance on this. None of my local shops have any of the stock on hand to confirm.

Come on man, you're making Summit look bad.

LS1 and LS2 are the same. Differences are the steel and the hardware. LS2P has a different rivet pattern.
