CCM OPS

Recommended Posts

Got a CCM Vector, broken OPS. Thought I could use it for a shaft, but when I cut it down to the required length, I couldnt fit a blade in. I even flipped it over, and the replacement blade wont fit either.

Any way to solve this? or do I just have another shaft that I can use to mop the floor with...

CCM uses vacuum forming for their shaft. As a result, the interior wall of the shaft is quite irregular (one side could be as much as 2 milimeters thick - especially in the corners - while other areas .5mm).

SO, even if you COULD wrestle a blade in there? I'd guess that the stress might cause it to crack and/or the blade may not be straight in the shaft.

I am surprised, however, that you can't fit a blade in the handle end (as they keep that rather uniform for plugs).

the handle end also looks a little irregular. Didnt have a plug in it, just one of those really short (about 1") end plugs that you could just pull out.

when my vector 8 ops broke, i just cut the blade off where the actual blade starts. Then working my way uppwards, cutting off 0,5cm each time until the shaft was hollow.. Then i just inserted a Tapered blade..

The hosel of a standard blade is 16mm, a tapered is 13mm

I helped a teammate to convert his vector 110, so i guess you could do the same to a v120.. So far, i have converted a vector 6, vector 8 and a vector 110.. all with the same positive result

dammit... only have standard blades... can it be done? talking about composites...

as for wood, i can shave that down, but was hoping to just stick to composites for a while

yes, but you'll have to flip the shaft. And sand down the edges on the hosel of the blade. The shaft is "contoured" (rounded corners) so you cannot insert a standard blade without modifying it
