Attack Pads or the like

Recommended Posts

I searched and didn't find much about these types of replacements for taping a blade. Has anyone used them before? Is there any concearn for not having something on the bottom of the blade?

I have to agree with kovalchuk, you get almost a bounce feeling from them. I would definitely only recommend them for roller hockey, they're terrible for ice and not very durable. You can usually get a couple sessions out of one before it gets pretty beat and non-grip feel. The one thing it works really well for is in roller hockey, the old "michigan" trick is easy to pull off with it.

I've only used the Attack Pads, so it only applies to them. I know there are maybe one or two other brands, but all relatively the same anyway.

franklin made ones called like shot tech or something.

i liked them more then the attack pads for roller.

the franklins had like a criss cross pattern that was really easy to do the michigan trick with.

they even made them for goalies at one point!

is the michigan trick that one where you slide the puck along the ice then spin around and lift the puck up and wip it into the net?

I have found the Attack pads to be too thick also. I prefer the franklins. They have a waffle pattern. I can't seem to find them anywhere. A few yaers ago there was tape that was similar to Skateboard grip tape but wasn't as thick. I think it was called Frank's stick tape. It worked really well. Anyone heard of it or know if it is still around.

Attack pads don't sound too promising. Another concearn I had was leaving the bottom of the blade unprotected. I've seen some pro's blades where they just tape along the blade and not around it. Wouldn't this cause excess wear?

Depends upon what type of surface you play on. Sport court; NO

I never tape the bottom of my stick for inline as I play on sport court.

The attack pads I fing too sticky and tend to pick up the puck on edge and cause it to roll. But as for shots and catching passes it's great.

I use 1 strip of tape across the face, and 1 across back, double layered.

Never tryed the attack pads but I use the blade shark and am hooked on them. I can feel the puck great and they grab the puck like no other.
