Problem with my one70's

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a pair of one70's and i took a shot in the boot today, and after the game i notice that the boot indented in. And it appears that the stitching is a little messed up, and the boot got very flimsy in that area. Is this problematic?

Sorry if there has already been a post on this.

The one 90's are having problems with their soles separating at the back by the heel and their tendon guards breaking. Now this problem with your one 70's. Personally I would take them back to where you bought them and get them replaced. You should be able to take a shot off them without the area collapsing the way you described. And the area shouldn't soften up. Obviously a manufacturers defect, something overlooked by their R and D department. I've taken lots of shots off my CCM's and Eastons and had nothing like that happen to me. Get them replaced while their still under warranty or get your cash back and go for another model or manufacturer.

The ONE9/Supreme 70 tendon guard is designed to flex. I've had my skates for longer than anyone else on this board and have experienced zero problems. For you to say that it was an oversight by NBH RR&D is an ignorant comment. There are so many scenarios that can happen with the end user - especially how they take off their skates. The customer will be taken care of - just go to your LHS and they will replace it.

if anything, wouldn't a quality assurance/quality control department be more accountable for failure?

Regardless he should take them back to the LHS and have them replaced. A new pair of skates especially a newer line should not be having this problem early in it's lifespan.

As JR indicated, how someone takes their skates off has a huge affect on how long the tendon guard lasts. You’d be surprised how many people push off one skate with their foot pushing on the tendon guard like it was a pair of sneakers.

Hey the problem with that guy is not even the tendon guard. The boot goes soft after blocking a shot. I don't know how hard the hot is but you should definitely check with the warranty dept. I don't think a boot should go all mushed up because of one shot. Gd Luck.

mew, what I don't believe you've realized is duch mixed another thread into this one - which is why people have responded to more than just the original poster's question. I'm happy to see duch edited his post somewhat. In any case, the original poster's question has been answered. The problem he has is unusual and he should go talk to his LHS about it.
