i don't know if many of you are paying much attention to this outside of pittsburgh but i was just wondering what you guys think about the steelers cutting joey porter. although he might take alot of cap room i think he's the face of the steelers d in a way. i'll always be a porter fan for his antics. what do you guys think about the cut?

He's a distraction and over-rated.

Possibly, but the thought of Takeo Spkies, London Fletcher and him at LB is intriguing to me.

Gaga I heard Spikes won't be back next year.

Well...he's been injured so much in the last few years...they've gotten used to playing without him. I was hoping this was his 16 week healthy season coming up.

[EDIT] I hope you guys are right about him being a over-rated distraction...he signed with Miami.

In no way is he a distraction. He has a large mouth and uses it smartly on the field geting into the opposing running back or qb's head. One of the best OLB's in the league, quality sign by Miami. However, they still lack an offense so it's looking like another year below .500. Culpepper isn't crap anymore and they have nobody at reciever and tight end. THeir biggest threat is Ronny Brown who has yet to show why he was drafted in the top 5 2 years ago.

Note: McMichael their top tier tight end was released and they signed David Martin from Green Bay...

I think Chris Chambers is still a threat, eh? I wouldn't couint on Culpepper at QB, but I've been wrong before.

Joey Porter is a great sign for Miami. Placing him in the same category as a T.O. or Randy Moss(overrated showboater) is a broad assumption that everyone with a mouth is a showboater. Porter still plays hard and puts it on the line for his team. I'd play next to him anyday, he was one of a few players who made Pittsburgh's defense as dominant as it was. 6.5 sacks, 2 picks and a touchdown shows he's a playmaker.

Oh, forgot to comment on McMichael. He kicks his wife's ass too much during the week that he's drained by the time Sunday comes. I think that release was warranted, he's not much of a threat. Now Wes Welker on the other hand...
