Inside the Caps locker room

Tonight was the Washington Capitals Season Ticket Holders team meet and greet.

They had the locker rooms opened, full access, not a guided tour, you could walk around freely, look at the gear, into the rehab room, equipment rooms, everything.

Then they opened up the Owners suite, pressbox and such.

Met Joe Benanati (who is the caps play by play guy, also does some Versus stuff). I have to say, he is a genuinely nice guy. He was completely willing to talk shop, was engaging, informative, friendly and eager to accomodate.

He did mention one thing I found interesting. He said the competition commitee in their haste to increase the speed of the games, didn't ask or consider the impact the 18 second face off rule has on TV. It's hard to break down a big play, or show a highlight in 18 seconds, unless you are prepared to miss some live action. Some broadcasters are pushing to get a 30 second faceoff rule again.

Anyway, I have photos of the Locker room, equipment room, rehab room, shower room, owners suite, press box and stick safe.

Thought I would share. All in all a great night, when the introduced the team, Donald brashear came out like a runway model, up to the end of the stage, twirled across to the other side, twirled and back to the lineup.

A nice break from the constant losses of late

OK, it is definately working now, I logged myself out to test it, so should be good to go.

Scott, the Olie line was huge, you would have spent the whole time in line and missed the other stuff, which was really cool.

Once olie gets back he is usually pretty easy to catch at ballston too

Yeah I can imagine. He is my favorite player. I have a signed game stick, puck, and wanted a jersey to complete my collection and have it all framed. Seems like you had a blast out there. I went to the Caps Messageboard to get the link. This is something I MUST go to next year.

btw, it took me a couple of tries to realize that you need to doubleclick on the photos for them to come up (I thought my mouse was broken for a second, then I hovered and actually read the caption box) this may be the difficulty that others have had.

One noticible absence, Brian Muir (granted not a legit NHLer on any other team) was not introduced as part of the team, and I didn't see a locker with his name on it, although I wasn't particularly listening

They had pictures you could pick up to get signed, from last years Bears team. I am not an autograph hound, so didn't bother, but one of the guys in front of us asked green to sign his name on the hershey pic, and he said he couldn't believe how greasy he looked last year.

Also, if anyone knows what the hell kind of skates Fleishman wears, I would appreciate the info
