trevor13478 1 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 I wish they televised more college puck regularly. Do we really need women's college hoops on TV?i saw girls high school basketball on tv the other day, that is pathetic, we have to hope and pray to maybe see the ocasional hockey game on tv, while girls basketball is getting more exposure. Honestly if there is somebody out there that wants to watch girls high school basketball that doesn't personaly know somebody on the team, please speak now... see that, nobody. i would take watching college hockey over NHL anyday, nothing like a hockey east rivalry. epstud74 24 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 It'll be the UND vs Maine/MSU winner. BC is pretty good, but UND is playing great hockey right now. Im not sure how the 2 week layoff will affect them though. Michigan State is playing awfully well as of late too, despite a mediocre season. Maine's strength is defense and goaltending, which is always important this time of year. I have UND winning it all.

I still cant believe BC lost to Notre Dame that badly earlier in the year.

tjl_48 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 I say UND. I haven't seen much college hockey outside the WCHA but they always seem to be the best. And the Sioux are my hometown team.
GSHL99 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 I wish they televised more college puck regularly. Do we really need women's college hoops on TV?It's really all about Title IX, doesn't do anything to address the fact that no one wants to watch women's sports, but it does a hell of a job at punishing men's sports that aren't very popular. To show they're really towing the Title IX line NCAA sports broadcast rights packages are going to requiring broadcasting some women's games, which no one wants to watch. Networks will eat it because the rights to men's sports are worth it. Now before I get flamed, I'm not saying there shouldn't be women's sports or that women shouldn't play sports in the least. What I am saying is that it's clear Title IX doesn't do anything for women's sports, all it does is punish men that play sports like hockey, lacross, rugby, and so on that aren't popular in the US and that by nature have few women interested in playing. Universities have not increased funding to women's sports, they won't do it because there's no profit in doing so. They've simply opted to cut funds that had been ear marked for club rep teams and less popular varisity sports making it more of a challenge for those programs and athletes to compete. epstud74 24 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 Too bad the two best teams played in the tourney last night in Denver ;)All kidding aside, isnt it detrimental to programs such as NoDak,Minnesota and Michigan to sign such highly touted draft picks and USNDT players if they're only going to keep them a year or two? Teams like Notre Dame with 3 draft picks and one of them is a senior anyways..Does that give teams an advantage with being able to keep players on campus for 4 years? I noticed BC only has one draft pick but what is the status of Boyle?(How did Carl Sneep end up out there?) Boyle should definitely get a chance to play the pro game given his size/skill set. Is he a free agent following the season?Minnesota-15 draft picks (will likely lose 3-4 players)North Dakota-11 draft picks (will lose Toews/Oshie) Froze Four teamUM-Duluth-10 draft picks (2 have already left)Denver U-10 draft picks (likely will lose Paukovich)Wisconsin-9 draft picks (3 being seniors)Michigan-10 draft picks (already lost Jack Johson)Michigan State-7 draft picks-Frozen Four teamBoston U-10 draft picks (doesnt seem like they'll lose anyone early)Boston College-1 draft pick (only 4 seniors)-Frozen Four teamMaine-7 draft picks (Lundin/Hamilton are seniors)Frozen Four teamBU? You guys know you have a JR goalie that will be 26 in May??Neat website, on top of page you can toggle through the conferences and rosters that also list draft picks on teams.I wish they televised more college puck regularly. The same goes for the NCAA types in their ivory towers.
cch 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 I am not sure where you got those numbers on draft picks, but I am pretty sure that BC have twelve draft picks on their team, at least that what it says on hockey DB. Also Boyle is drafted, he got drafted out of high school in 2003 by the Kings in the first round, I recall reading an article in the summer about how the Kings were really trying to get him to forgo his senior year but he wanted to stay. trevor13478 1 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 yeah they were talking about it on espnu about how if bc lost that game to miami, the next game boyle played would most likely be on that same ice in manchester, with the monarchs.

How are you able to keep him for 4 years?
