Getting Custom Skates

Recommended Posts

Hey I am looking for my last pair of skates for a while and considering one foot is 7.75 and one is 8.5 I am needing to get custom skates. I was wondering what companies do this and what would they be able to do. I was thinking of getting custom One90's but not the ones the NHL'ers wear.

On Eastwesthockey.com it says you can get Full carbon outsole. What is that.

Please Tell me what ones you think would be good to get.

I'm not a big "omgz, go to ur LHS!!!1" guy, but... I don't understand ordering custom skates off the internet. Wouldn't that totally contradict the point of getting custom made skates?

I would have to agree. BTW don't forget about depth of the skate. And some skates just don't work for some people, custom or not.

While I don't think it is a good idea, it can be done without being in a store.

There are certain measurements that are taken with a cloth tape measure. Take those measurements along with a trace of the skater's foot and mailed to the store (as faxes distort the images).

The reason why it is not a good idea, and especially for EWH is the accuracy. That is a very big liability to take; the customer can turn around and say that the skates do not fit; as a retailer, I would want to make sure for myself that the measurements are up to par.

I consider myself fairly competent but I wouldn't trust myself with measurements for a custom skate, i'd much rather trust someone who has done it before.
