Interesting way to lace up skates..

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about trying the method I use on my hiking boots to increase forward flex - instead of lacing all eyelets all the way up the boot, I skip the one at the main hinge in the anle then come back down to it from the top, tying the laces at the ankle instead of the top of the boot. That would probs put a lot of pressure on the top eyelte in a skate, though. Maybe I'll try it on my old ones to see how it goes.

A - YP pattern 85 flex

B - the laces alternate inside to outside, then outside to inside, this way, 1 you only need to pull every other eyelet to tighten, and 2 the equipment manager can cut the laces to remove the skates easily in case of injury

I tried this as well. Took a while for me to tighten them properly, and it seems like they were more difficult to adjust. But worth it cause I didn't have to re-tie my skates between periods.

After trying it inside, outside, then mixed, I prefer mixed. While outside does stay tighter, it's more of a pain to tighten them initially. Mixed, it's almost as tight, but seems to be a lot quicker to get the boot on and off.

And the picture had him lacing inside and outside alternating.
