NHL players smoking? Link inside.

Zhamnov smoked heavily. I'm seeing a Russian and French Canadian connection here. I think smoking is a big part of their cultures though.

I know Brodeur likes to smoke cigars, they showed a show about him a while back and he had a small humidor where he packed all his cigs and next to it he had a wine celar.

Smoking is not really part of our culture (Québec), well not anymore. You're not allowed here to smoke in public places, not even in bars or any restaurants.

I'd be interested to see how many of them smoke something other than ciggs or cigars...wouldn't surprise me one bit if some of the players liked to get baked.

Well if they live in Canada, or are there, it's not like it's illegal.

im suprised that these professional athletes smoke, i personally thought that it would be in their contract somewhere that they couldnt, and why would they want to handicap them selves if they are at such a high level of play? us bums can smoke and play becasue were not quite NHL caliber, but im pretty sure if i was in the NHL i wouldnt be smokin cigs.

Actually pot is still illegal in Canada, and if the RCMP catch you with it you can be ticketed or arrested. That's not likely to change. They just don't actively seek out people on minor possession busts like American authorities do. Getting caught selling it is another matter altogether.

Smoking? I think alcohol is probably hockey (and my) biggest problem.

What about Lindberg, Belfor, Probert, Domme and the list goes on.

I can't stand smoking but like many other Canadians am more than happy to consume 4-12 beers after a game. Now that's part of our culture.

Drinking age of 21 my ass, now 18 or 19 that pretty much makes it a suggestion. Besides in small town Canada what else can you do on a friday, saturday, thursday, or tuesday night after a game, or if there is no game?
