RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 sum 41 is pretty good, oh yeah blink 182 also.If that's "hardcore" Sid Vicious is rolling in his grave. That's fairly mainstream power-pop-punk isn't it?Or...were you being sarcastic again...I have such a hard time telling.Joe...check out some College/Campus/Community radio stations websites. They tend to have a much truer version of punk than what mainstream radio/media play. Althogh not my cup o' tea...you may find a gem or 2.

Saw them 6 times here last summer.Have you heard of the infamous Guns Up show where Ricky their bassplayer played the set in a boxershort and naked (in the end)? This show was right here in germany last summer and i got some pics of it. It was a blast.Mongoloids are sick as well. Vocals sound a bit strange but i got used to it and i like em.@jon93:This, is stupid "toughguy" hardcore which sucks big time (in my view)

dix0r 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 Aussie Joe - What bands do you like? Would make it a lot easier to suggest stuff for you.If you're into Minor Threat / Teen Idles type stuff, check out Void (also on Dischord records), Faith, Negative Approach, SS Decontrol, Gang Green, Iron Cross, JFA, 7 Seconds, older Agnostic Front. I like Minor Threat and Void, the others are somewhat classic suggestions but really not my cup of tea. For newer stuff, check out Fury of One's suggestions. If you meant hardcore like UK82 (hopefully!) there's lots of stuff I can recommend as that's what I was into for quite a while...Varukers, GBH, One Way System, Riot Squad, Discharge, Attak, The Blood, The Partisans, Ultra Violent, The Insane, TDA (only had one single). For newer stuff, The Unseen, A Global Threat, Oxymoron, etc.And if you meant metalcore like As I Lay Dying, From Autumn to Ashes, typical depressing sounding band names, etc, I refuse to help ;pIf you had another genre in mind, let us know! gman 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 What is the attraction to punk? I'm not knocking, I'm asking. The closest I ever came to punk was the Chili Peppers and some others in that vein. I really cannot stand rap lyrics. I like many of the beats, though, so if I could get purely instrumentals I might be considered a rap/hip hop fan. Just as long as they don't say anything. I'm sure not all punk is the stereotypical hate-filled new-nazi Euro stuff. So what is it with punk?
pat19 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 hard, fast, different? I don't know, I'm not really into it anymore but I listen to everything and I still kinda like it. It's just something different that mostly teens who are different listen to. But then stuff like Iggy and the Stooges is catchy, commercials all the time have stuff like them and The Clash. I can't explain it good but how can you really explain why you like any type of music.

I'm sure not all punk is the stereotypical hate-filled new-nazi Euro stuff. So what is it with punk?I like Hardcore because to me it speaks allot about some of the truths in my life. Stuff like "we made mistakes, we're fuck'n proud of who we are" and "I'll never forget my friends, my true family". But then there is lyrics that get me into play hockey, like... "Now the wolves become, nothing more than sheep"..."You won't fucking forget me"Then theres the pit, such a great cross trainer for hockey. I've been knocked down and kicked in the head in so many MOSH pits its crazy. But I still love it all. My spin kicks and breakdowns are at a really good level these days too so more and more guys are clearing space for me to cut it. ;)Aussie Joe - What bands do you like? Would make it a lot easier to suggest stuff for you.I listen to mostly all Aussie stuff which is strongly influenced by stuff like Bane, Madball, Champion and even some metalcore like Killswitch Engage. Fury of One 6 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 Good choices there. I started listening to hardcore just because of it's message. A lot of that message is believing in yourself and standing up for what you believe in and no matter how much life sucks to just fight through it. Hey, too bad about I Killed the Prom Queen though huh?
Aussie Joe 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 IKTPQ! lol.... those boys never could keep a lead singer unfortunately. Ed was great for adding a more dramatic dimension to the vocal side of things, unfortunately Jonah can't sing for shit. Ed never was enthusiastic about being in the band, I get the feeling they pushed him into the role when he wasn't 100% taken by the idea. When IKTPQ 1st came out their nick-name in Aus was "I killed the hardcore scene"... lol.
