Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2007 OK, so myself and two other guys run a charity golf tourney/hockey game for hockey fans.We also have some auction items we get from various sponsors. This year, thanks to some very nice contacts pulling out the stops, we have a PRS SE Custom, in gray/black color, signed in gold by Paul Reed Smith himself. This guitar, click the gray/black at the bottomAnyway, in an auction, what would you set as a minimum bid for this item. It's brand new, and signed.Any help would be great.Cheers
Chadd 916 Report post Posted May 11, 2007 Paul's a cool cat, I met him a long time ago when one of the shops back home first started carrying his stuff. List price on an SE Custom is $799 or so and they retail for $599 on Musician's Friend. I would go with $200 or so as a minimum and if you don't get that, just bid for me and send me the bill. Drewhunz 3 Report post Posted May 11, 2007 No Chadd, Paul is a cocksucker. As a lefty, I had to pay an additional 20%. I wanted the artist package- no dice on a lefty, but you can buy everything a-la-carte for a $750 upcharge. Then, he stops making lefties. I'm glad I got my singlecut before the lawsuit and the shunning of lefties. :(

Drewhunz 3 Report post Posted May 11, 2007 Slow enough that 1 store buys most of the production runs from the guitar companies. Fortunately, it is a 4hour drive away.Southpaw Guitars

Fortunately, it is a 4hour drive away.Southpaw GuitarsYou're lucky, it just isn't worth the effort for most stores to stock any LH stuff. I know a shop that still has five year old LH Strats with the tags still on them. My one buddy that plays lefty has a store near him that is stocking up on leftys as well, hopefully it works out as well for them.

Chadd 916 Report post Posted May 11, 2007 Their mail order business is INSANE.I would imagine. I had a long conversation with the guy who runs a music store around here and it's all about online specialization now. Everyone needs a niche in order to make money. It's either that or the guitar center where they don't even bother to set up the new $2500 guitars when they show up. Who in their right mind would spend several grand on a new guitar that has the action all screwed up and the intonation is out of wack?
