One90 vs XXX lite shaft shape

Recommended Posts

Is the One90 thinner than the XXX lite? How about more rounded? Reason I ask is because I have an XXX lite and its a bit too boxy for me. Thanks

The one90 is even more boxier than the XXX lite. I'm looking into a more rounded stick too. Try looking at the ccm vector with the "C" corners.

if the Vapor XXX-lite is too boxy for you then definitely the One90 won't work for you. I tried out the One90 and it was more boxy than the Vapor XXX-lite. The only way I can see you getting around it is if you find some pro stock custom.

the one90 feels thinner(not sure if it actually is thinner) because it doesn't have the thick grip coating the xxxlite has.

Was going to start a new thread but I guess this could go in here too. Now that these shafts have been released for a little while instead of just the OPS versions being available, what are peoples impressions of these two shafts?

Do they perform just aswell?

Also what is the durability like. I know the XXX-lite OPS seems to have had a lot of durability problems but what about this version. Would it be worthwhile to buy the shaft and replacing the blades or is the shaft itself just going to break as easily as the OPS.

One last question, the one90. Would this be a very good alternative to the XXX-lite? Does it peform almost as well and does it have durability issues or is it genrally regarded as a good strong shaft that will last. Can't have stuff shipped to Australia too frequently. Would love to get a xxx-lite if the shaft is going to last me, but seems like the one90 would be a better option??

I'm not really sure. I've just started playing ice hockey i used to play alot of inline and just used some cheaper easton wooden sticks. Towards the end of inline i got a black and white Nike Ignite 2-piece and I think its ok, it gets the job done, but I want to try something new. I understand that a tapered shaft will have a lower flex zone on it, but doesn't the one90 have a slightly tapered shaft anyway? Will this prove to be a big difference to me?

It probably wouldn't make a huge difference besides maybe mental... I'd get the shaft that fits your blade availability in your area/price tag. Standard blades are easier to come by and are cheaper, tapered blades have shorter hosels(normally) a lower kickpoint and respond more like a OPS... BUT you pay the price for them. Normally around $20ish more for high end blades.

If money is an issue, I'd go with the one90. If you have money to spare and want to try tapered go for the xxxlite. BUT be weary that the XXXlite OPS has had issues with durability and that the one90 OPS doesn't seem to have the same durability issues... Which may or may not mean anything to their shaft/blade counterparts.

Thank you very much TBLfan your help is greatly appreciated. I'll be having the shaft shipped from overseas and from what i've seen the xxx-lite and the one90 shafts are roughly the same price. I just need some feedback on the durability of the shaft versions of these sticks. Haven't heard anything about the xxx-lites durability in shaft form. Also is the one90 a slightly tapered shaft but fits standard hosels?

correct... You're probably not going to see accurate reviews for at least a couple months. If you need one now and want an accurate review you might want to consider other options. They just haven't been out long enough to review the product fairly, not to mention that a lot of stores don't even have them in stock yet.

Yea that's fair enough. I don't NEED a new stick it's just that i'm definitely getting some other gear shipped over so i thought it would be worth the while to get my stick now to save on total postage costs. Will prob go for the one90 if it's a really good performing stick just to be safe. Do you recommend any particular composite blades around the $20 mark? Hockey monkey is sold out but they had Vapor X blades for $20 when they retail for $150 out here. Anywhere still sell those?
