Epoxy Used For OPS Repair?

Recommended Posts

Anybody know the type/brand epoxy that is being used by places repairing OPS. A parent just gave me a great shot of my son scoring on a breakaway-I want to make a picture frame from the now broken stick that's prominent in the picture.

Tricky to mount the pic since shafts hollow, with wood you just rout out a recess....I'll post a pic if frame comes out nice and I don't lose any fingers making it.

any epoxy should do. hell, even hot glue should do the trick... its just a frame, right? unless you plan on shooting slappers with the picture frame, you dont really have to worry ;)

just go to a hardware store, pick up some generic two part epoxy, dont worry about specific epoxies for metals/plastics/concrete/marine applications.

or even get some L-brackets and screw it into the stick on the backside of the frame.

For a job like that you wouldn't need to know the exact stuff just regular epoxy would work fine seeing as it won't be under any strain I would have thought.

Puck it I hate you

This and some epoxy was what I was going to say. Should make it nice and strong.

Yeah, I'll see what's available from Grainger etc for comps then. Frames a stand-up for a desktop so it'll be handled a bit-don't need real strength but want a good bond.

If anyone knows the stuff used chime in....that way I'll have some on hand to try when we break next stick.

Try JB Weld. you should be able to find it at any Home Depot/Lowes/Wally world. Two part epoxy, works great for almost anything. packaging is red white and black if I recall correctly.

You can route out a grove in the carbon, just like you can with wood. Use a dremel. The epoxy used on stick repair is not strong without carbon. For a picture frame, if you just want to glue the joints together, any epoxy will do.
