this the first time i've played as a defenceman.

earlier tonight, i rifled off a shot from the point that went through traffic, right over the crossbar, one inch too high!!!!

top right corner... goalie didn't even flinch.

the game ended as 0 -0 tie.

i guess that's slightly better than losing.

had a similar incident yesterday... buddy of mine did alllllll the hard work deking thru traffic, in the end it was just him & me in front of the goalie.... he deked the goalie straight up, goalie was already on all fours, and my buddy passed to me. All I needed to do was tap it in, I tried to control it, & shot it right against the posts... 'ping'

lucky we were already like 6-0 up, everyone gave me the ribbing later on... blamed it on practicing hitting the posts during drop in hockey... dammit!

Thats just the way hockey is, some games you can't miss but sometimes you get games where you do this all the time. Just comes and goes.

i know...

sometimes they go in, sometimes they don't.

like i said, the game ended 0 - 0 so i did my best to shut them down.

i'm just saying.... darn, that could have THE goal.

if only right?!

i'm still happy with the way the game went, it was really fun.

I wouldn't get too down on yourself, it happens.

Last month I had a game where I had about 4 or 5 good chances to score but not one of them went in. I was frustrated at the time but I didn't let it get me down.

In the two games after that I didn't have as many good chances but tallied a total of 4 goals & an assist.

Thats hockey for you.

Shoot low from the point, your teammates will thank you.

Amen to that, not only does it give us forwards a better chance to tip the puck but it saves us getting a puck in the mouth which from experience I can tell you isn't too pleasant.

agree.... my partner USUALLY is good at shooting low, but last game he decides to blast one, and hits me at the top of the hip pads.

i usually keep shots below the knees, i've been drilled up front a few times.

it was a quick fake pass wrister, i didn't have the puck settled down.

another one of those things to keep in mind :)

something similar happened to me a couple weeks ago. me and a teammate are on a 2 on 1, he drew the defender and goalie towards him and slid a backhand pass towards me who was 5 feet in front of an empty net. I flipped the puck and hit the freaking crossbar. It was embarrassing, but I shrugged it off and scored twice in that game off of almost identical plays.
