im pretty sure that mission skate size=your shoe size, im not sure but thats my best guess

always better to try them on, before buying

I have S500's and I went down 1.5 sizes down (9.5 shoe/8 skate). I like my skates snug. :D

A lot of retailers I've seen online say Mission = shoe size, but don't believe that. If I remember correctly, others have recommended .5 to 1 size down. I think 1 down, in my opinion. Check the S500 reviews in the product review section.

Professional fitting is always the way to go. Can you at least try before you buy? Are they online closeouts?

The problem is that not everyone wears a shoe the same tightness as they want a skate... I know I don't. I don't like having my toes crammed in a shoe but I do like it in a skate. Part of the reason why I'm in 10.5 skates but wear 13 in street shoes. If I can't move my toes in a shoe it's too tight.

And of course I have to back you 100% on your advice; if you can, always try them on before buying.

Having tried on the S500 myself I know it's a pretty narrow skate in D width. If you have a wide forefoot I'd definitely suggest a EE width and not a D width. I take a size 10E dress shoe, 10.5 running shoe and fit into an 8.5EE S500. I'm currently wearing a converted pair of Mission L7s for roller and they're size 8.5EE.

As others have said your best bet is to try them on, but the other thing you can do is take out the insole on your 7500s and stand on them. If there's any room at all at the front your current skates are in fact too long, if there's no room then you have the right length and if your toes are way over the end of the insole then they're too short. It's just a hunch, but based on what you wrote (your feet are wide across the knuckles and you wear a 9 shoe) I'd guess your current skates are probably just too narrow and could be in fact a little long...they can feel too tight if they're narrow. Anyway, pulling out the insoles of your current skates can help you determine the length...if there's a finger width of space at the end for example you should likely go a size down in length and get a 7.5EE skate, but that's just one scenario.

althoma you just confused the hell out of me.

i was under the assumption that mission were somewhat close to shoe size

anyways, i did the insole test, my big toe is at least .5 cm over the edge and my foot spills out at least 1cm total. i think that means these are small on me..

i know the best thing to do is to try them on but these are online clearence and my lhs is very limited on missions

So I'm still somewhat confused. Is a mission E width skate like a top of the line mission D width skate?

An E or EE width skate is simply a wider version of the skate. A D width skate of the same model would be the same skate, but is narrower than an E width skate.

I rarely tell anyone to contact another member directly, especially if they work for a manufacturer but... ask Justin. He designed both skates and he is the best source for information on this one.

The intention certainly wasn't to confuse..just trying to help. If your foot is over the insole of your current skate then it does seem my guess was wrong and the skate isn't too long. Now you just have to determine if it's too cramped width wise or length wise for you. If your foot is squeezed at the sides near the forefoot, then you'd likely be more comfortable in an E width in the S400s...if it's fine width wise and a touch too short then you could go up a half size to a 9.

Mission used to be sized close to shoe size years ago, but I've read time and time again here that they're now at least .5 to 1 size down from shoe size with smaller feet having to go down more than bigger feet. The Mission rep, Justin, has posted that he wears 10 shoes and 8.5 skates, however; if you wear your shoes very tight or your feet are very unique it is of course entirely possible that you could fit close to your shoe size.

I wear a 10.5 shoe and a size 10 S400 skate was way too small.

Do this.

Measure the actual length of your foot with a tape measure (mine's 10.25 inches) and order that size S400. If you're in between like me get the next size up.

Also, the S series are fairly wide so unless you have huge feet get the D width.
