buffalo hockey 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 this guy comes in the store today and tell the guy working there that when he skates in his one90 the bottom of his feet start to hurt pretty bad. the worker says its because of the high arch the guy has and tells him that where ever he got the one90 he should take them back and get the XXXX skates..is this right would that skate be a better fit for ppl with high archs or was that worker just talking out of his ass? cause for some reason it didnt seem right to me
D aka speck 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 i think there are way too many variables involved with arch pain to make an assessment like that based solely on someone having skates and feet. it's hard to say someone has high arches if you haven't seen thier feet. i had arch problems (foot cramps) in my graf 502's, i loosened my skates more at the ball of my foot, problem solved. there's millions of other stories like mine, sometimes it's the skates, the laces, the footbeds, the foot itself... nuff said?vapor XXXX's are a viable option, but in no way the only solution. indaslot 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 He could also be in need of a higher volume skate. Not being familiar with Bauer, I don't know if the VaporXXXX fit the bill.
T-Dot. 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 he should try superfeet or another insole before changing skates

djinferno 2 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 When it comes to arches, I noticed that if you take skates that are too wide, you might have issues with that...
Ngo_35 1 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 here's my take,The sizing of the skates are probably off or the pain in the arches is because there is too much pressure on them meaning weight is not distributed evenly along the foot. Instead of this "upgrading" garbage which I think is horse crap only because the shop guy believes newer = fits better, there are several solutions I can think of. As many people stated, when skates are tied too tight other than the top three eyelets, pressure will form around the foot which needs to be relieved. Pressure on the arch has to be relieved how? By lifting the heal a bit. Using a thin piece of "rubatex" foam will help level out the foot. Using superfeet might help but speaking from experience, superfeet reinforces the arch so in my case it continued to hurt. I just elevated the heel and used the basic bio dry foot bed which were included in my 8090's, along with proper lacing my arch pain went away. Not all solutions involve upgrading sometimes a little tweaking works just as well :)Djinferno:You are correct because your foot should fit snug and ideally not move around in the boot. tsanga 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 That's not how Superfeet works. Superfeet supports the arch so that it doesn't flatten under pressure (your weight and/or overtightening laces). Your feet work hard to maintain their arch and can cramp if overworked. Supporting the arch and maintaining their shape would help arch pain.
Ngo_35 1 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 tsanga I'm not arguing with you there, but if you have low arches like myself when you tie your laces it kind of pushes up against the arches and consequently causes pain. It was why my arches hurt in the first place because they "supported" my arch by placing it higher. Its kind of hard to explain but do you get the just of it? tsanga 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 I have flat feet, and Superfeet have helped ease any kind of arch pain for me. I understand what you're saying, but my response to that is when your arches are better supported, you also don't have to tighten the laces as much to secure your foot. In other words, when your feet are less flexible and have less room to flex (flatten), you don't have to pull on the laces as hard, leading to less lace pressure. Ngo_35 1 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 oh of course bro. I dont tie the bottom laces tight to begin with only the top 2-3 i do. Lucky for you it worked. My heel was still too low with superfeet and thus it wasnt really support the arch. Damn waste of $30 bucks.

Ngo_35 1 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 hmm about 25-40 times?Im a size 5.5 so I doubt it'll fit you haha. Yay to paying for junior skates. *arm pump* yesssss
greatone 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 I think a size 10. The One 90's run big, so a 1/2 size is the rule of thumb. Example, if you were in 9 1/2 XXX's, you would be a 9 in the One90.
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 No they are not.are you sure about that? I think they both fit very similar to the S15s and the Vector 10.0s. All high end skates fit the same, right? P.S. I love the yzerman curve for slap shots because I like a small heel curve and it be the best. God my head hurts, what is up with some of these recent threads/posts?
