TPS Flex Rating Question

Recommended Posts

I've been using my "one piece turned shaft" old tps rubber response regular flex for the past month instead of my 100 flex easton si-core. Even though the flex rating chart says tps regular = 95 flex, the tps regular has way more flex in it than the 100 flex si-core (which I've lengthened to try to get it more flex). What's going on here? Is the tps response actually less than 95 flex? Will a new tps regular flex be the same as this rubber response regular flex, or have they changed their flex ratings up? I want to buy a new stick with a flex similiar to the tps I have. Thanks in advance for your help.

TPS are also know to be more stiff than the other brands...

at least from my experience they have been...

aside from the whip being like an 80 as opposed to an 85...

I've only had two composite sticks / shafts (I just kept on replacing blades) over the past three years, so only have these two to compare. Maybe the si-core is actually stiffer than the 100 rating? When I chose the tps there was no way it was the whip. TBL fan, you say tps regular will soften up over time, then I guess I'd better get a new regular flex and start working on it. One thing I've noticed is that although I love it's current flex, it doesn't return to it's straight shape as quick as the newer si-core - is this because it's old and it's spring or pop has been lost?

None of the (dozen or so) TPS sticks that I have owned have been stiffer than the chart would indicate.

they will break in about 5-10 flex... sometimes more a little bit more.

That is in line with my experience. I have an old S flex Response that is more like whip flex now.

TPS sticks tend to start out stiffer but break in and become quite a bit whippier.

I have an Adrenaline that I absolutely hate. It was supposed to replace my broken Response Plus, but I like the Response/Warrior tapered blade set up better. I didn't know there was a break in period for the sticks, so I will give the Adrenaline some work in pick up and give it another chance. Thanks for the info.
