Other than the fact I really don't like the styling of the new Easton gloves I really can't see a problem with the Smart Cuff if you don't mind it. I had is on a pair of Synergy 1300's and the Smart Cuff was a lot stiffer than it is on the S-7's. I in fact prefer the better mobility of the Smart Cuff on the Synergy S-7's as opposed to the ones I had on the 1300's. As far as protection I can't see a problem, the PU plastic is comparible to what you would get in a pair of wrist guards you would buy separately if you wore shorter gloves. Like some other guys I've found the Smart Cuff on my 1300's where a bit restrictive for movement when stick handling but I can't see the same problem with the S-7 gloves. I opted to go to a pair of Vapor XX's which overlap my elbow pads slightly than go to another Easton glove with the Smart Cuff. If I had seen the S-7's first before I purchased my Vapors I would probably have gone with the S-7's. Don't get my wrong, I love the Vapors but I'm basically an Easton guy and like to stick to the brand that works for me.

I'm also on the market for new gloves and the s7 also caught my eye. The smart cuff seems pretty nifty (i think some TPS have them too). Problem is that the fingers seem a lot shorter on the eastons than compared to NBH.

Havent decided yet. I just hurt my wrist last nigh (tried to take a 1-timer but as i made contact with the puck, a defender hacked my stick so my hand stopped but my wrist continued forward motion . . . doubt any glove wouldve prevented that though)

I'll second that notion, but add that I prefer a loose fitting glove with a wide open cuff (a la Eagle, Tour, etc.)

If you like a tighter fitting glove you may be able to use it, but it will definitely take some getting used to. a friend of mine had a pair of AIRs from awhile back, one of the first pairs to feature the smartcuff. He actually liked them while he had them, but when he switched to a glove without one he swore he'd never go back.

Oh yes. Forgot to mention the shorter fingers in the Eastons. I toke for granted you might be aware the fingers feel shorter than in Nike/Bauer or Reebok gloves. This is an issue that has been mentioned by a few people. Obviously this is not a positive thing because it deters them from buying Easton gloves. A lot of guys prefer the looser fit of other brands. The older Z-Air gloves do not seem to have this problem. The newer Synergy gloves however seem to have adopted the shorter fingers when they where redesigned. The latest Synergy gloves have slightly longer fingers but they still feel substantially shorter than other brands. My solution to this is to go up a size, hence a slighty longer glove with slightly longer fingers. I normally wear a 14 inch in other brands, so if I move up to a 15 inch in Eastons, that usually solves the problem.

Oliverloran I prefer gloves that have the smart cuff, I love it.It's personal preference. Some people like the smart cuff and some don't.

Ive always hated gloves with smaller cuffs.. (I had TPS Reponses with the extra huge cuff) and then I got the S7 gloves and I thought I would hate the SmartCuff...but I love these gloves and the SmartCuff isn't at all too restrictive or annoying... I barely notice it anymore..

It's definitely a personal preference issue with the Synergy S-7's or any of the Synergy line for that matter. The Smart Cuff to me isn't a big deal but the short finger issue is. It makes my hands feel too cramped and restricted inside the glove. As soon as you try on a different brand of glove you become aware of it.

I like my S7's, and the smartcuff doesn't bother and is not restrictive. The smart cuff is very loose and when I play I do not feel it there. I should add that I usually like a short cuff, and I switched to these after years of playing only with eagles. However, while I like the s7's, they sure do wear down faster than my eagles. I guess thats what happens when you switch from a leather glove.
