RBK 4K or NBH One90 Shinguards

Recommended Posts

I'm down to two shinguards. Anyone know which shinguard is lighter and less bulky?? I'm looking at 14". Thanks. My LHS does not carry these shinguards.

they're going to fit very different as well, as the 4ks have the fitlite straps. the pad sits on the straps, as opposed to sitting on your leg. A plus is that you get good ventilation out of it.

edit: to be fair, the proper comparison guard to go against the ONE90 in the fitlite line would be a 6k, and even then, it may not be up to snuff in terms of protection, etc.

one90's are less bulky. RBK's all tend to be pretty wide.

The RBKs are fairly wide, but the 4ks aren't nearly as wide as the upper end models. The fitlite straps that DL speaks of obviously makes the pad stick out a bit. Some guys like that, some don't. However, if you're a defenseman I'm not sure how well they'll hold up as I play forward (beer league) and they'll work for that.

I can tell you from personal experience the One90s are the slimest and closest fitting shin guards I've ever worn in 16 years. Not the lightest but still light, lighter than my most recent pair of shins, Jofa 8090s. Great protection and no need for tape either.

Thanks everyone for the input. I just checked out the one90 shinguards from a shop I found and they are HUGE. So the One90's are definitely out for me.

I really can't think of a shinpad off the top of my head that is narrower than a one90...

I find the 10.0s very wide actually. I'm talking about looking at them straight on. One90s have a very ergonomic, tight fit. They're a bit bulky protection-wise, but the profile seems pretty narrow up front.

I currently have the RBK 4k intermediate size 13.5, man they are just too narrow. If you compare this shinguard with most 14 inch shinguards, you will definitely see the big difference. In my perfect world, a 14 inch intermediate shinguard, slightly wider than what I have, would be awesome. Thanks

I know there is NO such animal.

I have vector 6.0LE shins, replaced by one90s and the one90s are definitely slimmer. My buddy has the 10.0 shins and the one90s are still slimmer. They also fit a lot tighter. The only drawback is that they aren't exactly lightweight, not heavy but not the lightest pad on the market.

Try the Easton Synergy S-9 or if that's too expensive the S-5's. Very slim and light pad that virtually wraps around your legs. Protective as well.

He is talking about which one is lighter

If you want lighter pads get something less protetive

Then that would indicate that the 4k would be the better choice for him.

I know the 4 and 5k are different, but I do like my 5ks. That fit-lite crap can burn in hell.
