well yeah. i was wondering if anyone knew more about it.

I did a little digging..Sounds like he retired.. Went through 3 back surgeries and never really recovered..So he retired in 2006. Too bad, because he was a pretty good player on a cruddy team.

Does anyone else think he's a poor man's Todd Bertuzzi?

hes a poor mans Bertuzzi without talent around him

He may have been a little more skilled than Bertuzzi...Perhaps more of a Lady Byng candidate than Bertuzzi could have ever been.

No. He was never much for physical contact.

Not really anything like Bertuzzi. Daze was a pure scorer who happened to be in a big frame. He had great hands and better than average speed, banging bodies was not a part of his game.

Yep..a completely different player than Bertuzzi. A big framed Quebecer who wasnt "Fast" but a knack for scoring.. I wouldnt go as far to say he was a finesse player, but he had more in common with Pierre Turgeon than Bertuzzi. On a side note, I thought Turgeon was extremely skilled with an excellent wrister in his prime.

It's odd that a quasi-finesse player would would be 'stuck' with such a huge frame.

Mario?

There were rumors that he was wanting to come back last year, but apparently nobody wanted to take the risk.

It wasn't a rumor, its true.

I think he even offered his services to the Habs.

Back problems screwed his career :(

Yeah, I know. What I meant was that players are usually said to have been 'blessed' with a big frame, not 'stuck' with one.

Yeah, definitely a shame. I always thought he had tremendous skill... just horrible luck, both with injuries and being on a horrible team

When he played with Sullivan and Nylander, the Hawks were actually entertaining at times. That line was far better than the sum of its parts.

If I remember correctly, wasn't he the All Star Game MVP a few years ago? I hope a team takes a chance on him next season. I've always liked him as a player, and it would be awesome for him to make a Selanne-like comeback.
