Skate Weight

Recommended Posts

My skates are 1.2kg apiece in size 8. :(

What kind of skates do you have?

Heh, I was half kidding (they are, after all, goalie skates) but since you asked, I'm wearing Daoust 301s bolted onto RBK cowlings.

this weight things rediculous. look at modano for example. he skates on old school tacks. you dont have to have the newest lightest equipment. i think youll do your best with whatever fits your foot the best

I will tell you though, coming from my old tacks goalie skates to 02 ccm 952 tacks it was a big difference. And then going from those to ultra-tight Vapor XXXXs was a huuuge difference. Not only going from like a 26' rocker to an 11' rocker to a 9' rocker but with overall weight and responsiveness. A couple grams won't make a difference but 50/100/150/250 grams definitely can. I feel less fatigued(also having a more responsive holder helps), I just have more late in long shifts or late in the game.

Would this be a big difference from a 9K to a Vapor XXXX? I seriously doubt it.

Any pics? I'd love to see some custom skates like that, especially with some Daousts involved!

Sure, I'll snap a few tomorrow morning, though I'm not sure whether to post them in the goalie forum or here. :) I'll just post them in this thread, for the sake of continuity.

And for the hell of it, I'll also throw some up for the brown leather 301s I got for my wife - they had literally never been worn. Unbelievable...

I play on "heavy ass" Graf skates myself.... was just curious about the weight of the Kor's since there is so much composite on them...

And yes I'm actually good enough to warrant top-end equipment, but this isn't a pissing contest, and unlike others on this message board I don't feel the need to patronize people in every other topic.

It's people's own choice what they want to buy, if they can afford it then fine... E.g. would you patronize the owner of a high-end sportscar on the street, just because he's not a racing driver???

Buying high-end stuff in hockey has become a status symbol, just like getting a nice car. If you can afford it then why not???

I´m with you.

Many MANY would call me an idiot, because I have about 14 sticks, and I can afford both Synergy 1500c, AND NB Supreme One90 skates.

But...... I´m interested, I can afford it, so why not?

Both skates fit my foot.

The most stupid is that I´m curious to test Stealth S-15, and Vapor XXXX, but.... maybe I should stick with my skates for a while.

I´m not the worlds best skater, but very interesting for me to know that the difference is not noticable, the XXX that so many people owns, just weighs 5 more grams than my "super light" Synergy 1500.

That is not a difference anyone can feel.

=)
