Bauer 5000 helmet padding

Recommended Posts

Yesterday before my game one of the little gel(?) pads fell off the foam.

It seems like super glue might eat at the EPP foam. Any recommendations for some good strong non-corrosive glues that would work?

I am also thinking of just getting a Bauer 4000 or Mission/Itech HC95 with the regular foam.

You'll get varying answers...but generally speaking, if the protective foam is falling out of your helmet...it's time for a new helmet.

Even if you could glue the padding back in...the integrity of he helmet would be compromised (even if it looks like a good glue job) and you don't want to mess around with the gear the protects your brain.

Liquid Nails for Small Projects. Get the clear kind.

The gel pads are strictly for comfort - I've seen the sheet they come on - my NBH rep once replaced all of them for our store's helmets.

Sweet thanks JR!

I was thinking the same thing RadioGaGa. I don't want to mess around with a helmet's protection. But I also need to watch my budget, so fixing the helmet is good for me right now.

When it's time for a new bucket, I'd consider the 4500 model. Quality you expect from Bauer, very light, protective, no padding falling out issues (for me at least).

is the padding in the 4500 good compared to the 5500 because it seems like it is a cheaper kind of padding and i know a lot of people that had concussions while wearing the 4500. it could be a coincedence, but i was just wondering what you or other people thought about it.

It's fairly thin padding but still protective. No helmet can protect against ALL concussions. I play non contact beer league and the bucket fits my needs.

isn't the 4500 dual-density? That's what most pros use, maybe a few of your friends need to worry less about their helmet and more about keeping their heads up. :P

haha yea i have the 5500 and it hurts the side of my head alot so i was thinking that maybe the padding of the 4500 would sort of mold to my head a little bit better and not hurt.
