Need Reviews on RBK 9K gloves

Recommended Posts

I am thinking about picking up a pair of RBK 9K gloves in Nylon. They feel quite good in LHS and I can't really get my mind off them for some reason. I've done some research on RBK gloves in general, many people said that they are just re-branded low-end CCM gloves...

Just as a side question, how do the 9K's compared to the higher end Eagles and the lower end Eagles?

I recently picked up two pairs of 'em in nylon. They're kinda in between loose and tight and are pretty light. What I like most about 'em is the damper zone. It does give you a nice feel for receiving passes as well as shooting. Obviously I can't comment on the durability but if you like them and they feel good for ya, then I don't think you'd be disappointed.

Do they do a good job in keeping your hand pretty cool? My XV's are way too stuffy. Also, how's the palm? Does it use the same leather material from the RBK 8k's?

Thanks.

They definitely "breathe" and obviously more so on ice than roller. The palms have a good feel around the stick and I think they're reinforced nash with a kevlar patch. The 8Ks I got have the pittards palm if that's the one you're referring to.

Cool cool, I will definitely go check em out tomorrow and hopefully exchange my oversize VX for them! It's going to be quite a step up but I totally dig the new 2007 9K nylon gloves!!

How does the nash palm compare to the pittards palm? Also, have you used Eagle gloves before? Or TPS Response?

Thanks for your great info!

I like the palm on the 9Ks better in terms of feel. I've worn X70s (which had durability issues) and the cheaper Oddessy X6s and also Response HGTs. The Eagles were okay, but maybe a little too loose for my liking and the TPSs were nice but got way too crusted up from the tape so I chucked 'em.

Thanks man. I went to LHS today and returned the Vapour VX. I got the RBK 9kN (I must admit that they just look way too sexy). I tried on the X6 and they are very tight and hard (perhaps not broken-in) compared to the X70. The X70 are a bit too pricey and it's also an older model. I also tried the Eagle Paragon...those ones are great, but they only have 1 pair and somehow they are 13.5" and therefore are a bit too short for me.

I can't wait to test my new RBK9K's out!!

I think that the fit is quite perfect. The hand and the finger parts aren't too tight nor too loose. I can feel the interior of the gloves but I don't feel any pressure on my hand or fingers at all. The part that protects the arm and the wrist is not too flared like the Bauer VX and the Eagle gloves. However, it doesn't really hinder any "normal" movements. One thing I really like about the glove is that the material used inside feels very comfortable. The palm is quite different from the palm of other gloves. The layer that your skin touches (the innermost layer that sorta forms the entire palm) is very soft and stretchy...it's not leather. I am not sure whether this will make the gloves a lot less durable but it does make the glove much more comfortable to wear.

When I was deciding between the Eagle Paragdon and these gloves, the palm was the deciding factor. The Eagle gloves are brand new but when I put them on, I can already feel the "worn-leather" feel (the feel you get with most hockey gloves after using them for a while) on the inside. The RBK feels a lot better in my opinion.

I don't know if any of what I typed above make sense since I really am not familiar with the proper terminologies when it comes to reviewing hockey equipment.

I believe they are the same as other RBK gloves, what I'd call medium-tight. Looser than the Supremes, similar to the Vectors.

I'm wearing the RBK 8k's right now and am looking at new gloves as well. I have not been able to try on the eagle x6's yet but i was wondering how they compared to the x70's. i tried onthe x70's and I really like them but is it worth the extra money, i was looking at the blacked out x6's on eastwesthockey.com by the way.

I find it hard to believe that the "Damper Zone" (or whatever its called) on the palm doesn't have an adverse effect on one's feel for the puck. I was looking at the 9k's at Great Skate a few weeks ago, and I love the way they fit, but I can't help but think that I'll have to have different palms thrown on 'em. Can anyone verify/say otherwise?

I will let you know after tomorrow night :) The palm really looks like my pair of snowboarding gloves, hope they won't affect the stick feel!

Tried out the 9K gloves tonight for the first time. The 9K's are really light and the grip is great. I actually love the damper zone and I don't find it intrusive to getting the feel of the stick. One thing I need to get used to with these tigher fitting gloves is that my hands tend to get stuffy inside after playing for a while. I previously used some really really big and flare cuff gloves - Bauer HG-5000 (I got em like 6 years ago, just before I stopped playing...they are barely used and they are in super good condition, so if anyone got big hands and want some nice leather gloves, please PM me).

Anyways, I try them more before I give more comments on them but so far, I am loving them! Oh, I almost forgot, they look amazing! (I got the 9K nylon black with grey accent)
