QUestion about Easton boot

Recommended Posts

for some reason there is a box at work, pair of easton skates, no holder but the steel is in the box.

they are older ones, rubberish type bottom. i cant figure out what it is.

i want to buy them and put a roller chasis on it ($50?) but i dont know a lot about older skates so im not even sure if i should bother if its just a crap skate.

the box looks about 10 years old. just an easton box, if i recall there is no other markings on it. did all easton skates at this time have rubber bottoms? seems pretty stiff too.

parabolic blades. (if that helps) it says PARABOLIC or something right across the blade

anyone have any idea what this skate might be? and should i bother?

What's the Model Name, does it say on the box? My buddy has a pair of the 1999 or 2000 Air's and he converted them over and he loves them. I myself had a pair of 2001 Air's converted and they were really good as well.

i'll check tomorrow when i go. they fit big. i wear a sz 12 mission ( inline ) and size 12 shoes ( new balance ) and those are an 11, and they seem to fit fine.

just one of those things that popped into my head after i got home, should've scrounged around some more.

i was excited because it was a pair of ice skates with no holder, which makes it easier for me to make into a little project inline skate ( seeing as how i dont play ice hockey )

I've had 3 pair of Easton's old ice skate line that I converted over and they all lasted me a while and stuff. Right now I'm skating in 2002 Z-Air's. I would definately recommend them for that price.

i agree it sounds like a z-air. i know when i had mine they were a '99 model (not sure if that helps or not, as far as your 10 year reference goes). i liked the skates, for $50 id say go for it.

Yeah, the boot was nice, but the fact that you needed a modified sharpener was a hassle for the runner. I am pretty sure thats why that skate never got off the ground.

It was a nightmare to get those onto the jigs. You had to take the bolt out of the top on the old blademasters, just to get the boot on place to clamp it down. I hated those things.

Put a new pair of Nike/Bauer Lightspeeds or Mission Pitch 3's on them and you'll have one heck of a nice pair of skates for about sixty to ninty bucks if they fit your feet. This ones a no brainer.

It never fit any Blademaster jig.

The hole between the holder and the boot was about an inch wide, then about 3 inches of holder til you got to the blade. You throw them on and the backplate of the jig wasn't even halfway close to the blade. Most retarded design ever. Every one else is the complete opposite.

You had to take off the blades.

I had to do a pair on Tuesday. Ugh.

Yeah, tell me about it. I just started working in a pro shop within the last 3 months and this one men's league guy who loves having his skates sharpened weekly of course has these skates. I have been telling him that I would put on new TUUKs and a discounted rate for him because these skates are such a hassle, but he says he won't skate in anything else...Gotta love it.
