Pens sign Recchi & Roberts

Recommended Posts

ugh why.....no thank you to either.

Why? Because their GM is smarter than you.

 I wouldn't have cared if they let Recchi go but I do like having Roberts on the roster.

He really set a good example for all the young guys with his relentless workouts and great work ethic. His presence on the team and in the room should pay dividends for years to come.

 lol no I just think that the money spent on them could be better spent elsewhere. I've never been a big fan of either of them.

I can see why some would question Recchi, but he comes at a decent price and he loves the town. Roberts is exactly the type of veteran (let alone player) they need. I'm not sure that Roberts could have a bigger impact in any other city in the NHL.

So...Essentially, Recchi and Roberts are "player coaches". Vets there to teach these young kids.

Damn...Pittsburgh could be very scary this year.

Recchi lives here in the Burgh due to his wife. My dad met him couple weeks back. So he may stay here after his playing years unlike like other players who flee to the homeland of Canada.

i agree with all of that young talent and if fleury plays good consistently, they will have a good year, and they also have a few veterans which will help in the playoffs

The price for Recchi is reportedly only $1 million base salary, the rest is all made up of incentives. If he performs, it's worth it, if not, it's not a lot of money.

I didn't like how Recchi looked out there last year but Roberts looked 15 years younger when he was playing for the Pens during the playoffs. He played with a lot of grit and showed the Pens' youth exactly how playoff hockey should be played.
