how long would a stock car battery power a stock stereo system with 1 subwoofer using the radio before it can no longer start the car?

Assuming your alternator is good, it will last anywhere between 50-100k miles. Most of it depends on the brand and how much you paid for it. You get what you pay for with car batteries.

i would say probably 2 years + or - a few months...

it starts deteriorating after that period and is better replaced

rather than give u problems...

I think he means how long can he listen to his stereo while the car is not running. It all depends on how much the system is drawing. Once a car is running the battery doesn't do anything except get recharged by the altenator (which runs the electical system)

oh sorry... hehehe just read the heading... hahaha!

it actually depends on the subwoofer... it can last 1 hr maybe...

but if i were you i wouldnt try it...

if u need to run the stereo on for a long time...

once in a while... turn on d car... that would make charge the batteries

Be aware, if you're planning on regularly running equipment for a while without the car on, plan on replacing your battery much sooner.

Primary starting car batteries have thin lead plates to achieve the high current necessary for cranking an engine. They're only designed for shallow discharge cycles, as the car's electrical system recharges the battery once the engine is running. Repetitive deep cycling will damage the plates.

So, what pong said: Turn on the car.

You need to figure out how many amps the stereo, amp and sub pull.( the specs will tell you that)

Then look at the battery specs and see what the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) are.

Do the math and you will come up a rough idea of what time frame you will have.

Example- Stereo, amp and sub pull 100 amps.

Battery has a 400 CCA amp rating.

You think you would get 4 hours out of it.

Wrong- You will not have enough juice to start the car.

You need to figure in a reserve. That depends on how many amps the car pulls to start it.

If you want to be able to sit in the park for hours and listen to your tunes the smart way would be to get a deep cycle battery for the stereo to run on and keep the regular battery for the car to start with.

You need to get what is known as a battery isolator to run the dual batteries.

It is an electronic switch that will only charge the battery that is low, and will keep the stereo from draining your starting battery.

A regular battery will die very quickly once it has been discharged a couple of times.

A deep cycle is meant to be repeatedly discharged and recharged.

Do a "Google" on dual battery setups and you will find all you need to know.
