Easton Stealth S11 Skates

Recommended Posts

I am interested in possibly buying the new EASTON STEALTH S11 ice skates. I've been skating in EASTON Z-AIRs for years and am looking to buy new skates. The S15's are too rich for my blood, but the S11's might just be right. I'd like to know if anyone has tried out the S11's and their thoughts, both good or bad. THANKS!

I have the S15s and they are great. Very light and comfortable. Since the S11 are fairly close to the S15s I would think that they would be just the same. Probably should've went with some S11s myself just to save some money......

I'm on the S15's and cant say enough about them. As for the S11's I almost went with them but figured that my feet have stopped growing and looked at the S15 as a long term investment. Hope this helps. The bigger you are the more spring you'll have in your step from these skates.

All of Eastons new composite skates fit relatively the same. You'll notice the fit is much better than their old Z-Air and Synergy series skates. The S-15 and S-11 are made the very same, just some of the materials used are slightly different. I would go for the S-11 as well because they are less expensive and essentially the same skate. If your not playing serious hockey or doing it for a living you really don't need a top of the line skate. Going down a level or two in a skate line isn't going to effect your game in any adverse way and will save you a few bucks.

Thanks for the replies! Great and helpful info.

Still a few weeks off from a purchase, so I'd still be interested in hearing what other users might have to say.

The fit of the newer Easton skates with the one piece composite boot makes for a much more comfortable feel with fewer pressure points or hot spots, as some players call them, that you associate with a new skate. The skate is one piece instead of several units glued and sewn together which makes for a much more uniform boot and eliminates a lot of the pressure points where the different sections overlap and join. It's just a newer concept Easton has gone to and so far it seems pretty successful. A lot of the guys I'm playing with have switched to the Easton C series and Synergy S series skates because they are so comfortable. I myself have the Synergy 1300 C's and they are most definitely one of the most comfortable skates I've ever owned. Unfortunately some guys have had issues with the ankle bite with some of the older C series skates so again they are not perfect and not for everyone. That will be something a person needs to decide for themselves as it is a personal preference issue.

Oh and by the way as earlier commented the toe area of Easton one piece composite skates is wider now and doesn't sqeeze in on the toe area of your foot now as it might have with the older Z-Air and Synergy series skates.

I went to my LHS and tried out both the S11 and S15. Both very comfy and stylish. A difference of US$140. I really can't tell much difference between them other than the texallium on the S15. Can anyone else share what the difference between these two skates are? I'm leaning to the S11's unless there's a compelling reason to splurg on the S15s.

Thanks Guys!

I was just looking for this thread to post the same exact question. My LHS has S15's, but not the S11's yet. How much weight difference was between them?

I tried on size 10s. I couldn't tell a difference in weight between the S11s or the S15s.

really, so in other words - the S11's are super light too?

what is the texallium?

I am sure there's a few grams difference between the two models, but to me, the difference was unnoticeable walking around the store. The S15s are made of carbon fiber/texalium that is supposed to be tough and is very shiny. The S11s are made of carbon/glass fiber that are more grey in color. The texalium is supposed to make the S15s even lighter (again I didn't notice a difference) but I kind of like the muted grey of the S11s over the flashy-ness of the texalium.

Bringing up an old topic, but I am very puzzled by this S11 skate. The skate is only available starting at size 5 and has the same price throughout all sizes. Essentially it is senior only, but like I said it begins at 5 instead of 6.

What Is puzzling is a size 5.5 s15 costs $330, while an S11 costs $390 for the same size. The lower end skate somehow costs more than the higher performance skate.

Can anyone explain the logic behind this and possibly why easton chose to do this with the sizing of the S11?

S11 should be like the 1200c

Hmm, I think the S11 should be more like the 800c since both are made with a fiberglass shell, not composite like the 1200c and above.

I have a question though, aside from the difference in weight, do the lower-end coil-technology stealth/synergy skates have the same stiffness as the higher-end models?

the s15's cost more, but it's worth it to get the more lighter and durable skate.

But in my case they do not cost more. The s15 is cheaper in sizes 5-5.5 than the s11. I find this very odd.

I wouldn't go as far as to say s15's are more durable... I have s11's and they have held up extremely well so far this season except for a minor issue with broken steel( which warranty covered). I have heard horror stories about s15's falling apart.

i have been told the S15 is 13-15 grams lighter than the s11

so weight difference would be negligible

I have the s11' with ls2 and they are almost as stiff as a xxxx but lighter, I do like the skates but, they scratch and flake some if you paly in front of the net, by flake I mean if someone steps on or rubs or touches the boot anywhere the coloring of the boot basically peels off, they also scratch very easily.

the s11/s15 are no where near stiff as the vapor XXXX, only skate even close to the stiffness of he XXXX is the one90, the s11 and s15 are a softer boot because of the pre cut flex points which encourages a good knee bend

i have a tough time flexing the XXXX but i skate in s15 and dont have any problems whatsoever, but i guess depends on the skater too
