Black athletes pioneering hockey (edit)

Great find! Thank you for that. It is amazing how much stuff is "overlooked" as Drew writes...

I love watching the old footage.

Not really sure what else I could have titled it. I even thought about changing the title but to what? I can assure you the title was not intended to "sounds a little bad". The following terms were all used in the video:

black history month

black athletes

black players

black people

Black Ice

Title is changed.

"African American" would make even less sense up in Canada.

Even though they glossed over Willie Oree, his XM interview last year was fantastic. One of the highlights of my experiment with satellite radio.

My son did a presentation on Wllie Oree for black history month. Pretty amazing he hid the fact that he was blind in one eye for his entire professional career, because they would not have let him play. He said he thought the coach knew, but it was kind of don't ask don't tell.

Thanks Drew, picked myself up a copy. I have been trying to get my mitts on a copy of this book ever since I saw the story on ESPN. I think discovering and reading about stuff like this is great and shows how history and tradition and creation is so amazing.

Can't wait till I get it.

if its true that the Hockey Hall of Fame doesn't recognize the league at all that's a huge shame on them. they deserve their due respect and story told.
