Looking for new pants. Need advice.

Also I heard that the one90/70/50 fits a bit wider in the leg area than the XXXlite... is this correct?

You love them or you hate them, but have you tried a girdle?

I'm sure I'll get flogged for this but they fit your requirements pretty well:

-streamlined: Bauer, Easton, tackla yes

-Length: adequate, tend to adapt to longer or shorter thighs due to material

-weight: excellent

-Cut resistance: multiple layers protect very well, shell is easily replaced

-Breathability: they lose a little here, but much less than you'd think the lack of big thick quilt padding and the light nylon means they breathe pretty well

-hip protection: excellent in Bauer, Easton, CCM and Tackla

-Tail bone protection: adequate at best, more than what you describe but less than most comparable pants, unlike pants the protection that is there is always where your tailbone is thus can be a little less bulky

-Leg Zippers: CCM and Bauer velcro onto you after your skates, shins and socks are on and shell slips easily over

-Mobility: no pant can compare

I was not an easy convert to a girdle. When it was all the rage late 70s' early 80s' if my memory is right. I was very resistant. Tried a pair on a bet and have never worn pants since.

Hip protection is minimal at best in any girdle and roughly equivalent to a $50 pair of pants. The tailbone protection is roughly equal to the lowest model pants. And for the privilege of getting bottom of the barrel protection, you get to pay top of the line prices, then you get to buy a shell.

But hey, it fits nice and snug so it can't be all bad.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but aren't Tacklas a little shorter than most--aren't they European ? They sure look short. I'm 6'3" and have been happy with my pro-stock Easton Airs for years.

Assuming you have a "normal" build, the "tall" tackla's are the best option for you. You can get just about any size in short or tall in addition to standard sizing. I'm 6-1 and the standard model fits me pretty well.

I have considered a girdle but honestly I would just get annoyed by it, I've heard a lot of negative things about them(pads falling off, etc) and as chadd said I don't think the tailbone protection is up to what my standards are(and I guess according to chadd the hip protection is lacking).

If you've seen the 692 pants, you know what I'm used to. I like the protection but I could use a little more streamlined and less bulk in the thigh area. I think the padding on the thigh is a bit of overkill for someone that doesn't drop to block shots often, if ever, so... yeah. Also, the XXL 692s are barely long enough, so that is an issue because they are a size(at least) too big as it is, so I'm going to get a long enough and better fitting pant. Right now I'm leaning towards the one90s but I will head to the "other" LHS to look at some of the pants that have been recommended.

Thanks for all the advice and keep it coming!
