So tonight i was on the ice and i noticed that the steel on my vapor xxx's broke sometime during the ice time and i was just wondering if most lhs's will have the same steel with the holes in it or will i have to go with the ones without

Well that's why it broke. Perforated steel isn't durable. I'd suggest just getting solid steel, but it is totally up to you.

That is a very common misconception. The solid steel blades break just as often. I have replaced hundreds of these and I have found no direct correlation between perf or solid steel. That being said, most LHS's should have replacements. The perf steel is being phased out though which is why the NBH XXXX's come with solid steel. I believe that it has more to do with being more cost effective as well limiting NBH's product inventory. If solid steel is all that you can find then you should be fine picking up one of these as a replacement. You will have a few options:

1) Buy a new set and keep the one good piece so you will have a spare in case it happens again.

2) Buy only 1 blade if the other blade is still an adequate size unless you are worried about having one with holes and one without.

3) If you only have 1 blade replaced, make sure that the LHS employee profiles the blade for you. The simplest thing to do would be to lay the broken blade on top of the new one and make a tracing with a Sharpie. Then cross grind the extra steel off so it'll match up. If done correctly you should have no transition time.

If you don't have a LHS near you that can handle this, I'll be glad to take care of it for you if you just cover the freight.

The perf steel is weaker than the solids, when new,and especially after sharpened many times. The height from the ice to the perf area is minimal, this is where they usually break. I would say I replace the perfs 3 to 1 ratio to the solids, despite having more customers with solid steel. Anecdotal, nope. Been this way ever since the LS's came out. Same for LS2's.

I don't recommend the perfs, as Brandon said, you probably can't find them anymore.

I'm not trying to threadjack, but I'm going to have the same problem as tips09 very soon and I thought it might be appropriate to ask here.

I have a pair of Easton 1200cs that have been sharpened one time too many, as far as he parabolic II runners are concerned. I think I'd like to switch to parabolics. Does anyone know a decent place to order these from? My LHS doesn't have them and I've not had much luck finding them.

The parabolics should fit the Razor Bladz II holders, right?

You're looking for Easton solid standard runners? They will fit in the Razors.

The solid steel is also less likely to flex if you are heavy and/or have a powerful stride.

I just wish my NBH steel kept an edge longer. :(
