yipperzz 28 Report post Posted July 24, 2007 the LA area (including orange county)? or just LA the city? if the city, you might want to contact the rink at culver city to see their schedule. i know TSC (el segundo) has pickup friday night too. there are also rinks at lakewood, artesia, westminster, anaheim ice, and khs in anaheim. pretty much every rink has a pickup, it just depends on what day/time you want to go. KingPest19 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2008 Are dudes who play puck in SoCal natives or transplants?Guess you can call me a native. Born in Oregon but lived here for since i was about 6 weeks old. Sucks for me because the nearest rink is 45 minutes away.
rmorrow 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2008 I have a group of about 8 with 2 goalies heading to Valencia (Icestation) on Monday Jan 21 to play pick up. Ice time is 6am. Come out if you can, we have a great time. All skill levels are present
spjon25 1 Report post Posted January 21, 2008 Are dudes who play puck in SoCal natives or transplants?I play (poorly) and am a So Cal native. I actually started playing when I was 26 and had a job to afford all the equipment and ice time
dix0r 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2008 Are dudes who play puck in SoCal natives or transplants?both... i'm more or less native (born in winnipeg but moved here at 4). skated in lethbridge over summers when visiting grandparents...and played a little roller when i was younger...but then i didn't play again until i was 19. i play poorly too though ;]a lot of guys are saying that there are more and more good players coming out of socal though - rakhshani, bobby ryan, hollweg, brian salcido, brett sterling. i didn't know this but apparently richard park and gabe gauthier? Krev 86 Report post Posted January 22, 2008 Are dudes who play puck in SoCal natives or transplants?I'm kind of both. I was born in SoCal, but I moved to Seattle at 6 years old. I learned to play hockey up there, and I've played in California off and on for the past 4 years. Switching back and forth between here and Seattle. Hell on my schooling.I call Seattle home though. I love it far more than SoCal. Too many fucking people. Are there HS hockey leagues in CA? I know they have various youth and travel team programs. There's HS hockey, yeah. Not high skilled or organized like HS hockey in Minnesota or some other state that has a real dedication to hockey and not just hot beach babes.
tro 4 Report post Posted January 22, 2008 I was in LA last month, visiting a friend, said he didn't know of any pickup so I left the stuff, maybe next time I will drop in.Side note on SoCal Hockey, we have a guy who plays on my summer league team, 4th or 5th in pts, he played USC over the last 4 yrs, dude said he was leader in pts or close to it, is the college game any good? spjon25 1 Report post Posted January 22, 2008 College hockey out here is nothing like back east. I mean the teams at USC and UCLA will fill up Toyota Sports Center for the rivalry games, but it is only the Pac 8 vs the Pac 10 in other sports. The hockey is an official sport, but looks like a club sport if you compare it to back east.Any UCLA hockey fans know where I can pick up a UCLA hockey jersey for myself who could not afford one when going there
Krev 86 Report post Posted January 22, 2008 http://www.uclahockey.org/merchandise.phpPretty expensive for my taste.

The price for both is $20. I do not know what the price for ice time only is.
