Old sticks?

Recommended Posts

Do sticks and/or shafts "wear out" with age, maybe losing some of their snap? I have some XN10s which are about 5 years old and long ago broke, and I've been using Easton Z-carbon blades.

(I'm also looking to justify buying some new stuff, so help me out here fellas) wink wink

I think it depends how much they are used. I've noticed that usually after some of my sticks have been used for a certain period of time the shaft loses some of the whip it had when it was first purchased and especially with one-pieces I notice that the blade becomes "dead" after a while.

I have an old S flex Response that is now more like a whip flex. It's rare but you can wear out some shafts. I haven't been able to wear out an XN10 yet.

My Grip Lites hold up the flex well but I've got some bowed-out ACs but I can't see that being a problem among today's sticks.

From my experience, TPS sticks break in more than any other stick over time. CCMs seem to break in pretty well too. By this I mean very noticably flexier.

You can put Warrior on that list. My dolo felt like a 105 when I got it, but by the time it broke it felt like a 90 or so. It lost a bit of kick on shots as well, but I kept using it because the feel was very good, and the blade remained stiff.
