thefelixculpa 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2007 I am going to start using my One90 shaft outdoors to train but I need a blade that won't make it TOO blade heavy and won't get torn up very fast on semi-smooth concrete. Are there any such blades?
Spreedizzle 1 Report post Posted August 14, 2007 CCM V20, or V40 work fine outdoors.....and they aren't an anchor either.
sabre09923 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2007 Just curious: when you say "training outdoors" what exactly are you going to be doing?
Jarick 5 Report post Posted August 14, 2007 Montreal makes the lightest wood blades I've seen, and mine haven't gotten TOO ripped up from outdoor shots. Maybe add a layer of epoxy on the bottom and an extra strip of tape.
thefelixculpa 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2007 Just curious: when you say "training outdoors" what exactly are you going to be doing?skate around at a local outdoor rink and just stick handle/shoot with whatever puck i can find that flips over the least or a smart ball, play some pickup games with buds. I guess using the word training made it sound more complex than it needed to.thanks for the replys

Spreedizzle 1 Report post Posted August 14, 2007 this right hurr?I've got one of these in the end of my TPS XN10 Redlite Whip flex for an outdoor rink and the combo works great. It makes the stick a touch blade heavy, but the feel is great. And I usually get about a full season on my rink with the blade.
thefelixculpa 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2007 http://www.inlinewarehouse.com/descpage.html?pcode=V4RB7how long would this beast last out on the concrete?
Spreedizzle 1 Report post Posted August 14, 2007 http://www.inlinewarehouse.com/descpage.html?pcode=V4RB7how long would this beast last out on the concrete?Probably not that long at all out there. The issue with the blade is that it is a composite. Composites typically are hollow on the inside, and once you "burn" through the bottom of the blade and get to the hollow, the blade is useless. I'd stick with the wood Vector series from CCM.
SickBoy 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2007 I've been using the v4.0 on asphalt, and it's actually been holding up pretty well. It has the same "DuraCore" inside the blade as the v2.0, just with a thin layer of carbon on the outside instead of texalium. It's not a full-on composite hollow blade, so it wears pretty much the same as the v20 and v40.I'd buy it again for outdoor.

sc37 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2007 But then again, they can say whatever they want :P aka, like Warrior.I think you might be better off with one of the ABS blades listed below the v20/40.

Yes it has a core inside of the outer shell, but it is designed to give the blade a touch more feel than a solid block of composite....to give it more of a wood feel to it. EBondo 237 Report post Posted August 15, 2007 No one mentioned the RbK 1K yet? Probably the best blade I've ever had for outdoor play, ahead of the V20's I used to use.
Spreedizzle 1 Report post Posted August 15, 2007 No one mentioned the RbK 1K yet? Probably the best blade I've ever had for outdoor play, ahead of the V20's I used to use.It is a good outdoor blade, but so incredibly difficult to find in a variety of curve styles. Yes RBK does offer a multitude of curves, but nobody has them. :(
DamnLocust 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2007 the 1K only comes in 2 curves, (MS and IW)and they don't match up to other curves in their lineup. They basically kept the 2 curves from the old jofa/titans before them. the 3k has a bit more curve selection, and looks like it may work outdoors (similar construction to the ccm v2.0 from what i can tell. thefelixculpa 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2007 I went out a bought a blade today to use outdoor. Sherwood Axion blade, not too heavy and I'm pretty happy with it.

So far...so good. Although I do admit that I do not take many slap shots, and when I do they are typically only in practice situations. I'm more of a forward with the wrister and snap shots. I'll keep you posted if I have any issues with it though.
