prostock XXXX skates

Recommended Posts

Through a coaching connection I am able to get prostock skates. So I ordered a pair of prostock XXXX's in an 8EE. My previous skates are prostock XXX's. Anyway, my previous skates had double stitching, pro stiffness, and those 5 holes drilled through the bottom, all pretty much standard prostock stuff that just came on the skates without any special instructions. So when I ordered my new skates I didn't specify any changes and just figured that my new skates would have similar modifications. My new prostock XXXX's arrived today and they had the typical holes drilled in the bottom but NO double stitching AND the liner of the skate is not the clarino offered in the retail versions but a black soft cloth-type material stamped with hydrophobic liner and the footbeds are black and white nike-bauer footbeds that say "dry grip moisture management" on them which also looks different from the retail version.

Anyone out there know if this is normal for the pro-stock XXXX's? If so why the change in liners? Anyone know anything about the liner that I have, it's different than other skates I have had and don't know what to think quite yet. It is fairly comfortable on the feet. Is it possible that someone elses skates, someone who wanted different liners and no double stitching came to me by mistake? My prostock XXX's came with the same liner but different footbeds than the retail models. And why no double stitching? Do you now have to ask for that if you want it? Anyone else out there have prostock XXXX's that are like mine? JR do you know whats going on? Thanks.

Now-a-days the top level skates are so stiff that I don't need anything stiffer so thats ok. Anyone know anything about the liner in my skates? Is it an option that is offered or something that they use on other models of skates? JR, is double stitching something that should be on my skates-I expected to at least see it around the outer seams. But the liner is really what through me...

**the footbeds are black and white nike-bauer footbeds that say "dry grip moisture management" on them which also looks different from the retail version. **

That is exactly the same as the foot bed that came in my retail XXXX's...took it out and put in grey superfeet.

blues_91, correct but they come with a clarino synthetic leather hydrophobic liner. Mine came with a black cloth hydrophobic liner. What came on mine may be similar to what they have on the XXV's but I haven't really paid much attention to those skates before. If it is, why did they not use clarino, I didn't ask for it and thats why I think these skates may have been meant for someone else. I will call where I got them from tomorrow to hopefully clear things up. But for now I am a bit puzzled.

jordan, I noticed that these footbeds are in the retails too but they don't have the red graphic (not that it matters one bit) like the retail versions I have seen. I plan to do the same thing as you and get superfeet insoles. I hope you are liking your skates.

They might not double stitch a #2 stiffness. I think that is what I remember hearing in St Jerome in the custom skate room. They only double stitch #3 and #4 since those are built like Red Wing construction boots.
