Itech Shin Guards and Elbow Pads

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, just wnat to get some insight and esperiences with the ITech 990 Pro elite series of shin guards and elbow pads, basically, how good are they and what do they compare to?

Anyone have experiences with them?

Thanks

Very protective. The 990 elbows are a little on the bulky side for me, but I use really small elbows. They're on par with any other top-end elbow pads. The shins are great, I ended up with the 660s because I didn't need all of the protection in the 990.

No more so than any other top of the line shin pad. They are a wider fit than some brands, so anyone with chicken legs should make sure they try them on first.

Most of the Itech equipment I've ever had is right up there with some of the best on the market for protection and quality. I find their shoulder pads are even a little bit of overkill in the protection department.

The 990 shoulders were a bit much (in terms of bulk and protection) but I sold the hell out of the 660s.

I ordered a pair of the 990 shins from HG. At that price, I figured, what the hell?

As Chadd mentioned, they definitely fit wider than typical shins. One thing I noticed right off the bat, is that they're pretty uncomfortable shin pads. I don't know if it's because they are wider, but they have a 'generic' and dead feel, if that makes any sense. If I would have bought these at regular retail, I'd have been pretty upset.

I had been using Mission Fuel 85, and I figured the Itech shins would fit and feel the exact same, but they're not even close, and I thought that was strange. Maybe I'm nuts.

No each manufacturer has a slightly different feel to their equipment. I just changed over to Bauer skates and they feel strange compared to my old Easton 1100's but comfortably strange. Sometimes it takes a bit of time to get accustomed to a different brand.

I find them to be very comfortable, but comfort is a very subjective thing.
