koivu pro stocks

Recommended Posts

has anyone had experience with trying to get the blade out of a koivu prostock stick? it looks like its a shatf-wood blade combo, but i tried heating it and it wouldnt budge. i scrapped down the paint a little bit and it was hard to tell where the blade went into the shaft...if that is the case.

if anyone has any feedback on this issue..help is appreciated

i haven't any experience from CCM pro stock's. Only from regular vectors..

Iv'e turned 2 vector 8 ops into tapered shaft blade combos. It's impossible to pull out the blade, you have to cut it..

Start cutting where the blade face meets the hosel and work your way upwards cutting of 1/5" at the time until the shaft is hollow and the distance between the sidewalls are 13mm.. Then a tapered blade would fit.

how come?

High-end CCM OPS are similar in construction to wood sticks in that the blades are attached to the shaft externally as opposed to being made as a two piece and fused. Your Koivu is the same, except the blade is wood, not composite.

Like swede said, you're going to have to cut it and test fit a tapered blade in there if that's the route you want to go. Otherwise, try a standard blade in the handle end (may not work if it's a rounded shaft) and cut at the length desired.

TPS is notoriously easy to heat and pull, as well as older bauer triflexes and vapor XXs (made by inno). I've seen it done on here with a Pulse, but have had trouble with other missions.

With most other sticks you can cut them at the fuse point and chisel out the blade tenon, or just cut a bit above the tenon (still in the taper) and use some tape on the tapered blade hosel.

how would they put wood and composite without fusing it? it doesnt make sense..

It's not a blade and tenon fused into a shaft. It's a shaft with a blade at the end. Look at a wood stick and you should be able to see how they attach the blade to the shaft.
