Hey K-ody,

I believe the store is called Hockey Life. If you go to www.hockeylife.com you will see the advertisement.

If you go to check it out could you please let me know how it is and what the prices are like. I live in Ottawa. I have heard that they are expanding to include a store in Ottawa. Can you verify that if you go?

Thanks! Hope this helps you.

There are 2 new stores in the Vaughn area. Yes, the large 30,000 square foot in the Vaughn Mills shopping centre is called Hockey Life. This is owned by the owner of Rousseau Sports in Montreal. There hasn't been anything yet about great deals in the store. They are trying to offer the selection aspect of having every pattern/flex in sticks as opposed to price at the moment. This could change if the stock doesn't sell.

They are currently building a new location in Kanata, ON, in the Centrum area by Terry Fox Drive. The location was suppose to open around this time, but I've heard plans are on hold due to some roadblocks, so it could be pushed back until the New Year.

Now that Rousseau has opened a store in Ontario, Forzani is trying to squash him from entering this market, so they have opened a hockey only store as well called Hockey Experts in the Vaughn and Mississauga areas. They are old Sport Mart stores converted into all hockey, so they can compete with this new store. They are offering your typical sport chek mentallity of slashing prices and advertising like crazy.

We will have to see who wins the war and who survives.......

Hockey Life is built on the same platform as "Golf Town" as I understand it. Do 1 thing and do it BIG! Same owner? or just same model?

Cool thanks Fivehole.

I was wondering what that new building was going to be by Baton Rouge.

That new building is Best Buy. The hockey store is supposed to go in near Pier 1 (21?) But will probably end up near signature center. (I have the insiders info on this from past work in town at another store)

I work at the Woodbridge Hockey Experts. At least every other customer that comes over from Hockey Life says they got no help or bad help. When I'm fitting a person for equipment, they feel comfortable enough to ask questions like, "What's a good stick," or "how do you skate backwards?" Afterwards, I often get comments along the lines of, "I'll probably come back for that helmet. What's your name again? Are you going to be in on Saturday?"

Just slash prices and advertise? I think not.

I'm working at a LHS in the vicinty of both of the new stores. The feedback on both is less than flattering.

basically customers are saying if you can help yourself, your ok at pro hockey life. one customer told me that a staff member couldn't even find the jocks.

its a big store and thats about it really, i went there once to see how it was and asked a guy about ordering custom skates and had no idea how much and how long.

The owners are rousseau and the person from golf town, now for the U.S people here I hear that there is some golf shop called martins that just carrys golf gear and that blows golf town away. So i wonder how hockey life will do in the slow months

I was there a couple of weeks ago just being nosey and seeing what they have there. It's a big store with lots of selection. Didn't have any problems finding someone to help me out. Got asked at least four times by different employees if I needed some assistance but I wasn't pestered. I was looking for a pair of Synergy S-9 shoulder pads (Eastons top of their line) but they didn't have them. Weird for such a large store. They did carry all Eastons

other shoulder pad models though. I've got to say their selection is great overall and their prices not too bad. This week they have the Mission 110 AG hockey skate on for $299.99 which is a great price for that model in case anyone is interested.

listening to the staff at hockey life is pretty funny. Nice people... just dont know their specs too well.

There's a Montreal goalie on this board called chakal who has some hilarious stories about overhearing BS from guys in Rousseau's and calling them on it.
