Response Armor and Adrenaline Control

Recommended Posts

HockeyOverstock has Response Armors for $70 in a fair # of patterns and flexes. The C4 is just referring to the shaft shape, correct? They've also got adrenaline controls for a good price as well. Any thoughts on which is the better stick? Also, I've been planning on going from a 100 to an 85 flex with my Easton's lately, so I'm a bit unsure what to grab in the TPS flex. I did want to try something with a bit more flex, but I have a feeling whip flex might be a bit excessive. Anyone want to share their experience with the whip flex? Thanks a lot.

By the time you add in shipping + duties/brokerage fees/customs, you're probably better of getting a pro stock Response Lite for $125 cdn at the sports exchange. Just letting you know, last time I ordered sticks from an online store, I got tagged with an extra $50 when they delivered it.

Unless they tack on some bs charges on arrival, it seems like the shipping is very fair. $15 for the 1st stick, and no additional charge for extra sticks. That's actually far beyond fair I think.

Is the response armor the successor to the XN10 or the Response +. I've never used one, I'm just wondering if anyone who's used it can give feedback or share if it's got similar feel to anything else. Also, looks like what I want is unavailable in the adrenaline control, so that's out.

I have a handful of sticks from TPS.

R6 Response Armor Whip Flex Afinogenov

Redlite XN10 Reg flex

CS2 Whip flex

The whip flex is exactly what it sounds like....VERY whippy. I use it on ice because I am a center and just about never take slap shots, but the wrist and snap shot off of the whip flex is fantastic. And I also honestly don't think that you will find a OPS with a better feel for the puck. The XN10 that I use is for inline hockey since I play D on it. So I take a lot of slaps from the point and have found that the regular flex give my slap a lot more power from the point. ALL TPS sticks are renowned for "breaking in" also.....they get a touch more flexible as they break in....so bare that in mind. If you are coming off of an 85 Easton, then I would go with the Regular TPS which will be a touch softer than your 85 Easton at first and after a couple of games with it it will probably drop to around a 75 or so with the breaking in.

you want a regular flex. As stated it will break in and be a bit whipper than a 85 flex after a while. TPS makes some great sticks, I love them.

UPS charges a ridiculous amount of brokerage if you get them to ship it up here. That is on top of tax - the only way it would be worth it is if the store is willing to ship with the US postal service. You'll get taxed by Canadian customs but they don't charge the extra 40$ UPS charges.

Believe me, I'm all to familiar with UPS and their bullshit brokerage fees. Shipping would be via USPS. I'm torn right now. I could grab a pair of SLs which I know I love for $220, or the pair of Response Armors for $150. Shipping is in on both. The durability sucks on the SLs but I do love the feel. I'll probably end up going back to them...

Also, does the C4 just refer to the shaft shape, or are there different levels of the stick ie. C2, C4, C6 like there's One50, One70, One90?

The Adrenaline Control was made in North America, whereas the Response Armor was made overseas. Chadd has noted that the performance and durability of those made overseas doesn't match up to the NA made stuff.

C4 refers to the stick model. The control on the Adrenaline means it's a grip stick, if it makes any difference to you.

The Adrenaline Control was the top stick in its year, whereas the response armor was I believe 2nd in line, maybe 3rd.

The Intrigue mentioned by another poster was the pricepoint for its year.

You might be able to find some deals at the sports exchange on sticks. I noticed you live in Vancouver as well. They are all pro stock but if you can find your sticks in the right lie/curve then you're laughing. They have decent deals most of the time.

That's great advice, thanks. I've never been down there but I'm going to check it out. I see the Response Lites you were talking about and that is a great deal.

Curious, is your avatar from PICH out at RIC?

TPS R flex is around 90-95 on most sticks. If it's whippier than your 85, there were some serious problems with that stick.

C4 is the model number, IC4 would be the intermediate version and JC4 is the junior version. The Response was C8, R+ was C9, XN10 was C10. Shafts were CSx
