I've had to send two pairs back from my store. One because the toe cap cracked and the other was because the composite shell can out from behind the leather up where the top few eyelets are. Never seen that before. But both pairs have been replaced under warranty and otherwise they have been great skates.

I have to say sorry for your issues with the skates however people have to keep in mind that all products will have those few that come from production that will have issues. Sticks, gloves, helmets, skates and so on. It's all a numbers game when it comes down to it. I can say that I have had my S15's now since June/July, skate 3 times a week Adult leauge and have some scuffs here and there but thats it. They have taken some major blocked shots with no issues and complete protection to my feet. Just my personal experience with them.

All copper isnt all that uncommon, at least they wont rust out. Whoever did that up probably didnt want to mess with the tiny steel rivets, easier to just copper it up all around.

On another note...Belak = New easton posterboy? I can see the ad now, "We ended Wade's goalless streek".

Nothing wrong with all copper. When done right they are much stronger and don't rust away like the steel rivets. It's just a MAJOR pain in the @$$ to get a blade with all coppers off.

Aint that the truth! Also, I dont know why, but with all the synergy skates that ever came in they all seemed to have rust problems with the rivets. Normally I would attribute that to not airing out equipment, but I dont know....maybe something to do with the liner only absorbing too much and the water get out of the rivet holes.

"Synergy SE, from zero to one...imagine what it can do for your game!"

It's because it's a comp boot. Composite doesn't breathe so the moisture has to escape through whatever holes it can find ie: dry flow port and rivet holes.

When done Correctly, you shouldn't even notice them. Probably don't have them set into the boot correctly to get the head flush with the skate. And then any insole would provide enough material to make the foot comfortable.

I agree with Knight.. Coppers are an absolute nightmare to remove. Esp some of the factory ones.

copper rivets sit down flatter than a steel rivit. when a copper rivet is put in the part inside the boot is flat like a small coin, the steel rivets are "stared" which creates excess steel in the bottom of the boot. copper should be less noticable.

Yep, those thick as crap ones that come on the Nike skates are a nightmare.

The head of a copper rivet should fit flush along the base of the skate and usually they lay flatter than the steel tubular rivets that "spider" out. Many times those curl under when they flare out because they are too long which creates a lump that can be uncomfortable. Either way, you'd have to have a pretty messed up rivet to feel it through the 2 inch thick Easton insole.

I was wondering if there were any negatives to all copper.
Coppers are an absolute nightmare to remove.

Besides that, no, no negs to copper. But if you can find a LHS that stocks them, Graf (Torx) Screws are the way to go. They sit flush like Coppers, and are a breeze to remove and replace holders.

I have had a ton of these snap and the also can strip out the holes that they are set in. Not one pro that uses Graf skates has the Torx hardware in. Plus because of the fact that any person could easily remove them, I've found that many people who have no idea what they are doing will mess around with them. Rivet work, for performance and safety reasons, should be left to a professional.

Oh I Agree all of that stuff should be done by people in the Know. I put them in my skates, just like Graf does, 4 up front and 4 back, instead of 6 and 4 of rivets, and haven't had a single problem. And i'm a pretty big guy so if they were to strip or snap, I'd be the one to do it. I'm going on 1.5 years in them with no quarrels. I guess it's just PP for us Peons. And I suppose the EQ Guys in the bigs have no problems with rivets while using their fancy Pneumatic presses. :D

Yeah, I love mine. It's so much easier being able to control the machine with your foot. It frees up both hands so you can do things so much faster. Time is limited when the game is one the line and your team's start player has an emergency. Well worth the extra $$ if you're gonna be using it enough.

I had my S15's for barely any time skating 3 times a week. all of the leather etc seperated from the composite in various places. The leather near the start of the toe cap snapped one day, making the small composite area near it pop out and make tightening the skates nigh impossible due to the lower eyelets being pulled across. I have pictures somewhere i will try to get em up when i get some time. They were amazing skates without a doubt, comfortable and responsive along with that amazing lack of weight, but i couldnt afford to replace them that often. i want a pair of skates to last me at least a season hence my decision to make the switch to vapor xxxx's and give em a run for their money.

Had a question; Would it help if I used ToeGardª Hockey Skate Protector on my S15's where they have that synthetic leather over the composit toe cap?
