blade for outdoor

ok so I did some searching and it seems that some people recommend the ABS blades and some recommend going with cheap woodies. so here is my story, I'm a ice guy but recently got some inline skates (mission wicked 7) so I can go to the local park down the street which has a smooth concrete outdoor rink.. unfortunately there was a street ball (basketball) competition the day I went so I just skated around in the parking lot (asphalt) for about an hour.. I have a Easton z-bubble shaft that I don't use for ice and I have an Easton Ultra-Lite blade in there and decided to just use that, but the blade got chewed up. so I think I should change it out. anyhow, the 2 schools of thought being ABS or woodie, I've been looking online and it seems inlinewarehouse has a lot of blades for indoor/outdoor use. but I was looking at the CCM v4.0 in a lemieux because thats the closest to my sakic that I can find. would this get chewed up pretty quick as well. I looked at the koho and rbk 1k blades but they don't seem to have curves that I like.

if it's smooth concrete like say and indoor rink smooth concrete then you can use what you like

but i'm asuming most outdor rinks aren't perfectly smooth like indoor ones so i'd personally go with a woodie, they'll last you for a lil while and they're cheap

I guess what I mean by smooth concrete, is it's smoother than the asphalt or sidewalk concrete..

I had used the CCM V40 and V20 combo on the same surface (basically the consistency of a hardcourt tennis court) for years. They do quite well on that surface. I generally get about 10 weeks out of a blade, and that is playing about 2-3 hours per week.

V40 blades would be perfect. i used to play street hockey with it and it'd last me the good part of a year before breaking.

i usally go to the local rink or lhs and look in the sale bin they are usally like $2 or $3 and i buy a few and switch them out as needed.

I've been using the V4.0's on asphalt for a while now. They hold up really well, relatively speaking, it is asphalt after all :D They're certainly not the lightest blades around, but they hold up better than anything else I've found, and you can get curves that aren't just huge bananas.

I posted a little while ago about the one issue I had with the blade, and that was that the Ovechkin curve has apparently changed a bit from last year's, and the pic on inlinewarehouse was the old one. I still recommend them highly for asphalt.

Instead of just curving at the heel and being relatively flat (other than opening up) as it goes towards the toe, it starts curving at the heel and just keeps going. More noticeable in the mid, and definitely more in the toe. More Sakic, less Drury, I guess.

I just killed of a Koho crossover blade in about 8 outdoor games. That's about 1 month. I was hoping to get at least 2 months out of my outdoor blade. any suggestions? how is the rbk 1k blade? it comes in both red and black. I see a lot of people using both the koho crossover and rbk 1k blades for outdoors.

Rbk 3ks seem to hold up pretty well as well, but since they get so chewed up anyway, it might not be worth the extra couple of bucks for them.

I actually use wood blades outdoors on asphalt. Picked up a bunch of old T-flex woodies and have been using them for a while now. Before that I would just get woodies on clearance whenever i could find them. If you don't use your slapper too much and have somewhat soft hands, you can get some decent life out of them.

that's absolutely mind boggling unless you're shooting backhand. That thing has so much curve it should rocket wrist shots

I went to Behind The Mask last week and picked up the green RBK 1k for outdoor use and I have absolutely no complaints at all using a viceroy ball on tennis courts. I can shoot forehand and backhand real nice and lift it on the backhand like I wish I could do on the ice! I've skated about 3 hours with it and it's only showing a bare minimum of wear. I got the Crosby black 1k for the wife (she owns just about every Crosby-related piece of equipment ever) and it looks like a 9 iron with all that wedge in it!

I remember hook shots when it was all ball hockey for leagues, street and everything. Could hook into top corner from cross-court with both the IW and the Jagr crossover blade.
